You may be our new Global Climate Finance Policy Advisor!

The Climate Justice Global Program

Climate justice is an organizational priority to ActionAid Denmark (AADK) and you will be part of AADK new Climate Justice (CJ) global program. The CJ global program is part of an overall climate justice intervention through country programs in the global south, international and Danish climate justice campaigns, and advocacy at national and international level in cooperation with the ActionAid (AA) federation and other key partners.

It is expected that the CJ global program team works closely with three specific core partner countries and have a looser cooperation with 3-6 more countries. ActionAid partners in the core countries of the program will have a substantial influence on the implementation of the program.

As Global Climate Finance Policy Advisor, you will have 3 different roles:

  • Engage in selected international fora in close cooperation with the AA Federation to hold governments and institutions to account for commitments to climate finance
  • Engaging with a global south perspective in the implementation of an EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism

This advocacy role can potentially also include advocacy for mobilising just climate financing from the global north.

A support role at country level that facilitates capacity building and exchange of experiences by training, supporting and facilitating young people, movements and their partners.

The deliveries in this role include:

  • Working with ActionAid, partners and youth driven organisations in 2-4 countries to introduce progressive carbon and greenhouse gas taxes that will raise revenues for a just transition
  • Working with partners and youth in 1-3 countries to improve taxation of extractive industries to mobilize resources for investment in frontline communities
  • Training of young people, movements and their partners in 3-5 countries to understand and analyze potentials in climate and fossil fuels taxes, and enable them to demand a just transition
  • Cooperating with the AADK and the AA climate justice campaign to support impactful campaigns generating policy changes
  • Training of young people, movements and their partners (1-2 countries) to understand the role of harmful tax treaties and how they can be changes to enable revenue mobilization for a just transition

An internal capacity building role to contribute to building an impactful team across countries to implement the global CJ program.

In this role we expect you to:

  • Build your own and your team’s capacity on climate finance and, in coordination with the team, develop impactful strategies across the three pillars of the program
  • Engage in team cooperation for the global Climate Justice team and with the Policy Lab and others in the spirit of ActionAid’s feminist leadership principles
