Who are we?
The PIBE team works to promote programme innovation throughout the organisation and develop strategic partnerships for the achievement of DRC’s strategic objectives as set out in our Strategy 2025. We are a small and dynamic team, and we work with a wide range of colleagues, in HQ and across our regional offices and country programmes. We work with external partners incl. private sector and are key to DRC’s effort to source new inspiration, knowledge, partnerships and opportunities for people affected by forced displacement.
PIBE is comprised of the team’s manager, six advisors, one grants officer, two students and are affiliated with two regional advisors in Middle East and East Africa regions, respectively.
About the internship
The internship is hosted in DRC’s HQ in the team Programme Innovation and Business Engagement. As such the areas of support by the intern will be split in two: namely (i) support to develop concept, organisation and execution of global innovation events targeting the humanitarian innovation ecosystem and new partners, and (ii) support accreditation work and support to strengthen DRC’s position for engaging in global climate policy fora and engagement with global climate funding opportunities.
The tasks will include, but will not be limited to:
- Support the planning and execution including online hosting of DRC Global Innovation Forum and other learning events and workshops.
- Draft and support internal and external communication
- Support the build-up of knowledge in DRC around positioning for global climate change fora and financing institutions including the UNFCCC and the Green Climate Fund.
- Support to host DRC Greening month (September) incl. planning, execution and follow up activities.
- Help to develop the branding material incl. short video productions, short articles and posts.
We offer flexibility in the type of tasks and assignments, and we will together with you develop a plan for the internship so you can build on your unique skills, talent and aspirations and aim to make the internship relevant to your line of study.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to be action-oriented, have a sharp pen and bring an appetite to be supporting lead on communication and event management. Interest and understanding around climate change, climate adaptation and mitigation as well as policy and global advocacy processing is desirable. Ability incl. technical skills and drive to support small video productions is also advantageous.
All employees and interns in DRC should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity. Furthermore we also expect the following:
- Technical skills to support planning, organisation and running of larger online events
- Strong communications skills in English (Danish an advantage, but not required)
- Enrolled in a relevant master programme (social sciences, international relations, climate studies or similar) with an interest to pursue a career in international development or humanitarian affairs
- Genuine passion to help change people’s lives for better and offer support to improve DRC’s ability to engage strategically in climate forums and funding opportunities.
It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university in order to be considered for the internship.
We offer
Contract length: 4-6 months subject to study requirements and further dialogue
Workplace: DRC Headquarters located Borgergade 10, Copenhagen
Start date: Mid-August. We will do our best to be flexible on the start date if needed.
Working hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship.
The internship is not paid but we offer:
- 2 (unpaid) vacation days per month. The days can either be spent as you earn them or be accumulated
- Free lunch in our canteen (subject to our canteen being open)
- Free participation in our Summer/Winter party (subject to dates)
Please note that if you do not have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa), you will need to apply for it if selected for the internship.
