DanChurchAid/DCA (“Folkekirkens Nødhjælp”) is looking for a Student Assistant 15 hours a week in DCA’s Headquarter in Copenhagen in the Programme, Advocacy and Learning (PAL) unit.

Then you may be interested in applying for the position as Student Assistant in the PAL Unit in DCA’s international department. We seek a student assistant with analytical skills, able to support the PAL Unit in Copenhagen with a range of tasks. The position is 15 hours (2 days) a week, with flexibility around exam times.
The PAL Student Assistant will work in the PAL Unit together with the Head of Unit, Team Leaders, and a group of Programmatic Advisors. The position will provide support to the three advisory teams in PAL, where you will get to support advisors working on innovation, civic space issues, private sector engagement, human rights, faith actor’s role, market systems and development finance. You will especially support the work of DCA’s internal Innovation Fund which supports and roles out innovation across the organisation in close collaboration with local partners.

PAL’s programmatic work includes a variety of topics, and this position will especially require work to support facilitation of our Innovation Fund, take part in private sector engagement, market development and due diligence work, and support advocacy to promote, human rights, climate action, civic space and religion & development. A human rights-based approach is applied in all DCA’s work. From Copenhagen, the PAL unit provides support and assistance to 19 countries across the world in line with DCA’s global goals to Save lives, Build Resilient Communities, and Fight Extreme Inequality.

  • Assist PAL Head of Unit and Team Leaders with administrative tasks, including meeting planning and note-taking, communication updates, end-to-end support for specific tasks, event planning, support on visa applications, as well as other ad hoc tasks.
  • Support PAL Management Team and Advisors with various organisational processes, including reporting, drafting of learning documents, and planning of meetings, events, and seminars.
  • Assist in proposal writing, concept notes, writing applications, learning reports, etc.
  • Support and facilitate communication between PAL Advisors and DCA Country Offices.
  • Support PAL Advisors in coordination with other Units within DCA Headquarter.
  • Take part in network meetings and events on behalf of DCA of relevance and interest.
  • Assist with coordinating and administering DCA’s internal Innovation Fund, undertake followup tasks and create relevant text piece for research, communication and knowledge sharing purposes.
  • Undertake due diligence screenings, research, and other relevant tasks to inform project development and advocacy activities.
  • Other ad hoc tasks.

    The successful candidate will:
  • Be enrolled in a relevant university programme (development studies, international relations, political science, migration studies, innovation, business administration etc).
  • Preferably well into their Bachelor or in the beginning of their Master
  • Have an interest in global development and humanitarian affairs.
  • Be interested in working in a civil society organisation with human rights-based approach as a foundation for all its work internationally and in Denmark.
  • Possess analytical and critical thinking skills and interest in data analysis, with an eye for details.
  • Have a structured approach to executing tasks.
  • Possess strong competencies in Excel and with IT in general (knowledge of Microsoft Teams an advantage).
  • Be fluent in English. Danish and French fluency is an advantage.
  • Be committed, flexible, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have the ability to manage a busy workday with conflicting deadlines, and have an organised, structured approach.
  • Be able to work at least two days per week (with flexibility around exams).
  • Be attentive to supporting social cohesion and teamwork.
  • Be solution-oriented, energetic, and interested in working in a dynamic and intercultural working environment.
