Your new job on a day-to-day basis As our new Solution Architect will be responsible for either designing new Lab IT solutions for our scientists and technicians in the research labs or re-design existing Lab IT systems in order to increase digitalization, automation, and standardization across the labs. As part of the digital and automation agenda new devices are entering the labs and this requires an experienced skill set as a solution architect to design connectivity, remote access, and a solution that lives up to the IT security standards in Novo Nordisk. This will require you to have a hands-on approach to your assignments, as you will be tested on your overall architectural knowledge as well as hands-on experience. Furthermore, your involvement in the shaping of the long-term strategic direction of the field, as well as ensuring a coherent technical architectural overview, will be important so we can reuse best practices across the globe and across the labs. You will be vital in driving the dialogue and challenging both vendors and the labs to design the best possible IT solutions for the IT systems used in the research labs. Furthermore, you can be consulted by IT projects which affect our IT infrastructure and thereby also the labs. You will also be part of a global network of IT architects in Digital, Data, and IT in Novo Nordisk where you can get sparring and insights into new technologies used elsewhere in Novo Nordisk. Key areas of responsibility:
  • Designing new Lab IT solutions to be used in the research labs
  • Optimizing existing Lab IT systems used in the research labs
  • Challenging vendors and labs to ensure the best possible IT solutions
    • Do you have what it takes? To be successful in this role, we believe our next colleague has a graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems) as well as experience with IT infrastructure solutions and network infrastructure working with hardware devices (such as PC, but other platforms will be relevant as well, e.g., Apple devices and 3D printers). In addition, we believe that our new colleague will be able to tick most of the following boxes:
  • 3 years of experience within IT architecture and an understanding of the importance of user experience and performance.
  • Experience with Linux firewalls, antivirus protection and connectivity, Windows, and potentially also Linux.
  • An innovative, curious mindset, and the willingness to use it to take the lead in designing Lab IT system solutions in research labs.
  • You possess significant analytical skills and are capable of networking and designing solutions globally, as you will work closely with many different research sites.
  • You are a good communicator across functions, levels, and cultures. You can listen as well as understand the IT and business complexities and be able to translate these into opportunities.
    • The department waiting to welcome you on board The R&ED IT Lab Solutions team is a new team within R&ED IT anchored in Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT). The department consists of 10 people divided between Business Analysts, an IT Policy Manager, an IT Service Manager, an IT Security Manager, and onsite IT supporters that assist the research labs globally with their day2day IT challenges on their +1000 Lab IT systems. R&ED IT is together with R&ED driving an aspirational digital and automation agenda that will require new IT solutions and services enabling R&ED to reach their ambitious goals of new discoveries. As this is a new department, there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills along the journey. Furthermore, partaking in shaping the future of the R&ED IT Lab Solutions department will be very rich. The department has a close link to all research sites but is anchored at the Måløv site in Denmark. The R&ED IT Research Lab Solutions team supports the scientists and technicians and their research all over the world, offering opportunities to visit other sites, e.g., Beijing, Oxford, Seattle, and Fremont.
