The position
As Director for Manufacturing Development (MDev) Support & Stability in Oral Finished Products (OFP), you will be in the driving seat for developing and improving the manufacturing processes for Novo Nordisk’s oral drug products; we are also responsible for supporting our production sites across the world, drive the stability portfolio for all products and write and maintain regulatory documentation.

The department is only about a year old in current structure; thus your job also will be to ensure the building, fostering and develop the department further to meet the needs and strategy of the oral product portfolio, from phase 1 to clinical phase 3 and transfer to market production.

Among your everyday tasks you will:
• lead a department of approximately 60 employees divided in 4 teams, which all have cross-functional responsibilities and an extensive stakeholder landscape
• help to balance the demands of the business here and now, while at the same time ensure our longer-term ambition is fulfilled
• manage many internal and external stakeholders translating business needs into meaningful prioritisation
• expand the areas’ strategy and competences

You will act as role model and will ensure an energetic leadership that will motivate the colleagues around you to be the best they can be, because they feel safe, supported, and challenged by you on a daily basis. Since the oral pipeline is in growth and constant development, prioritisation and willingness to adapt to changes and new priorities are key for success.

This role offers great potential setting direction for the oral area and ensure communication and dialogue to a broad network within Novo Nordisk.

Qualifications
We are looking for a positive and solution-oriented candidate who will maintain and develop MDev Support & Stability with strategic and systemic leadership skills and an interest in development processes, strategy and stakeholder and people management. You have a high level of energy to drive your organisation and engage your colleagues and employees.

To succeed in this role, you:
• Have a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering or equivalent
• Have years of experience as a people leader, preferably leader for leaders
• Have gained experience from the pharmaceutical industry or similarly GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulated areas
• Have knowledge of manufacturing processes and development and preferably within finished products in pharmaceutical industry
• Are fluent in English both written and spoken

On a personal level, you set clear direction but in an emphatic way, lead and motivate your department to deliver their best and have a desire to influence and impact others beyond your own area. You have a flair for handling complex organisational strategy and using systemic leadership and at the same time you encourage and challenge your colleagues in the VP management team to ensure that we together exceed expectations for oral area. You possess great communication and cooperation skills, as you will be in close dialogue with various stakeholders.

About the department
In 2004 Novo Nordisk initiated the ambitious and pioneering work of being the first company to offer a GLP-1 (Glucagon Like Peptide 1) based oral alternative to type2 diabetes patients all over the world. In 2019 we got the first approval to send our GLP-1 based tablet to the market, and we are already represented in both US, EU and other parts of the world. The pioneer spirit is what characterise OFP. Every day we put our very best efforts in optimising and developing our production, to be able to help even more patients all over the world.

OFP Manufacturing Development is an area that currently consist of 5 departments with a broad core business and we are growing our organisation towards cutting complexity, enhancing competences and business excellence.
