Do you want to spearhead the development of a new digital strategy to bring COWI to the forefront of digital leadership? Can you set direction, motivate a team, and ensure the implementation of digital plans? And can you harness the full spectrum of digital technologies, especially AI, to craft innovative and outcome-oriented solutions that will benefit our customers and society? Then, this is the place to apply your knowledge and holistic mindset to enable a better tomorrow.

Everything starts with the customer – that is what drives the development in COWI.
It is with our customers that we develop solutions that will benefit society, therefore we are looking for a customer-centric Group Digital Director who can help us develop sustainable and digital customer value.

You will join COWI’s newly established Innovation Leadership Team consisting of 9 directors within Sustainability, Digitalization, and Technology. We are a global team, anchored in Business Development, and work across COWIs sectors and geographies. As our new Group Digital Director, you will be reporting directly to the Head of Innovation, Sustainability, and Digital, Charlotte Søgaard.

The role
This is a highly strategic role that will aim to transform COWI into an innovative and resilient business partner, exceeding the digital expectations of our customers, employees, and partners. In the Innovation Leadership Team, we work through a matrix structure supported by several professional communities.

We onboard relevant colleagues depending on the task/project at hand. This means you will always have the most enthusiastic and experienced people around you – but also that you will need to motivate your team in other ways than being a line manager.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • define a holistic digital strategy together with key stakeholders to make COWI a digital leader,
  • develop and adopt new AI and data-driven solutions to ensure efficiency and augment our engineers to design better solutions for a more sustainable future,
  • set direction for data management and digitalization in COWI and ensure implementation of digital plans in alignment with COWI Group strategy and Sector priorities,
  • drive standardization, optimization and automation of digital core processes across the organization and in line with industry best practices,
  • liase closely with key stakeholders across sectors and geographies to define governance for relevant digitalization aspects (e.g. data management, software management, and digital capability building)
  • create and maintain strategic partnerships with tech providers and startups, and drive COWI's startups accelerator program “Co-Creator”,
  • ensure scoping and prioritization of innovation and digital initiatives with a focus on strategic fit and creation of sustainable customer value.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
We expect you to be a true collaborator with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. Additionally, you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you will have experience in:

  • stakeholder management at both senior leadership and lower specialist levels – you get things done in a smooth, effective and elegant way,
  • developing digital transformation initiatives tailored for engineering environments in large international organizations,
  • collaborating with startups and facilitating innovation processes, e.g. co-creation initiatives with customers and partners,
  • building a hybrid digital ecosystem, based on both internal and external digital capabilities for fast delivery of new digital solutions,
  • building an agile and data-driven culture that enables swift adaptability to changing technological landscapes and market demands,
  • working with standardization of data and digital processes in an engineering context.

A place to work and so much more.
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100 per cent of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

With offices primarily located in the Nordics, the UK, North America, and India, we are currently 8000 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, and environment into play.

Get to know us even better at our website, www.COWI.com, where you can learn more about our projects, our strategy, what we want to achieve and what life is like at COWI.

Diversity is fundamental to COWI, inclusion is key.
We are committed to creating a respectful and fair work environment where all employees have a sense of belonging and equitable opportunities to thrive and grow. We ensure that our leaders are role models for inclusive leadership by cultivating a culture where diverse perspectives and thoughts are seen as strengths. And we take diversity and inclusion into account in all relevant decisions and processes and when setting teams and fora. We do it because it is part of our values and because it is simply the right thing to do.
