Position Summary:
The Systems Analyst is responsible for designing solutions and/or modifications to the Information Technology systems used by Research Safety Division (RSD) Europe. The Systems Analyst will analyse the Business Requirements documents produced by the Business Analyst and interact with internal users and software developers to create a Functional Design meeting these requirements. After approval, the Functional Design documents will be handed over to software developers to be coded and unit tested. Once available in the Integration environment the modifications will be tested by the Systems Analyst and members of the Development team.
In this role you will maintain links with business analysis and business functions in establishing functional requirements, and with the IT team building the solution, and such will collaborate with functional leadership, Project Managers, IT teams and external vendors to ensure projects and enhancements are designed and delivered in a cost-effective manner without negatively impacting quality. You will provide support where necessary.
In this role you will work within a team structure, build a broad knowledge of technologies used within Thermo Fisher Scientific and be required to comply with standards pertaining to design, testing and general business practices.

- Systems Analysis
- Analyse and understand the Business Requirements documented by the Business Analyst
- Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and design new functionality to improve business productivity or workflows as required
- Review IT system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations to determine if the requested change is possible within the existing system
- Implement or modify procedures and/or processes to solve business issues considering alternatives and limitations, environment and desired results
- Functional Design
- Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify applications based on the Business Requirements
- Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail the operations to be performed by infrastructure, components and programs
- Consult with the Software Developers to understand software limitations
- Peer review Functional Design documents produced by others within the function
- Technical Design
- Write a detailed description of program functions and steps required to develop the modification based on the Functional Design
- Peer review technical design documents produced by others within the function
- Development
- Be responsible for developing the modifications and creating/updating systems documentation
- Observe and follow development standards as documented and approved by the Development Manager
- Peer review code produced by others within the function
- Testing
- Provide testing scenarios, cases and plans to ensure the quality of the solution is appropriately validated in Development and later in Quality Assurance
- Integration test all modifications, including those specified by others, before they are promoted to the Quality environment
- Documentation
- Plan and prepare reports, memoranda and instructional manuals as documentation of program development
- Support Developers during system development by providing use cases, flowcharts and diagrams.

- Prepare knowledge transfer documents and train the support team to ensure new modifications can be supported
- Perform Level 2 and Level 3 support as and when necessary

- Proven experience in system analysis and implementation of software solutions
- Solid knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. IBS Enterprise, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence) in a supply-chain environment.
- Knowledge of database design and file management techniques
- Working knowledge of industry-standard project management methodologies together with a broad understanding of change management practices
- Working knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable and flexible to changing demands
Education / Experience
- Demonstrable track record of success in software design
- Certifications in relevant IT disciplines
- Proven experience in implementation of software solutions
- Working knowledge of ERP systems in a supply-chain environment
