Novo Nordisk Global Medical Affairs is looking for a Director to head up Scientific Publications.
About the Department
Scientific Publications is a truly international, high performing team with a variety of backgrounds such as communication, project management, Science and international business. We are responsible for creating innovative and high-quality solutions related to scientific publications. We plan and execute essential trial publication activities around our products, engage with doctors and other Health Care Professionals including Key Opinion Leaders, and secure communication of our scientific data through global publications and develop strategies and supporting processes for these. Moreover, collaborating extensively with colleagues and stakeholders around the world to ensure continuous improvement of the Publication function globally.
The Job
In this key position reporting to the VP you will drive and manage the global scientific publication team of eight scientific publication managers, develop and secure execution of the global publication strategies and plans related to NN diabetes, obesity, CV & NASH portfolio.
The job requires daily collaboration with external clinical investigators, key thought leaders and internal stakeholders from medical affairs, clinical development, discovery, statistics, regulatory, patient access and affiliates, as well as journal editors, publishers and publication professional bodies. The job also entails oversight of regional/affiliate publication planning aligned with Global strategies and scientific communication plans. The director secures that relevant and appropriate information of upcoming congress presentations and publications is timely passed on to colleagues across the organisation.
You will be chairing publication group meetings with key internal stakeholders and be responsible for execution of global publication plans across the portfolio as well as the budget and measure the impact of publications.
Qualifications
Proven expertise in a similar position together with several years of experience of medical/science journal publishing – either with a pharmaceutical company, medical communication agency or publisher is required.
You have an excellent knowledge and understanding of congress and journal publication possibilities, as well as international publication guidelines and application to the pharmaceutical industry. You understand the medical publishing developments and can discus open science, open access, and discoverability of scientific literature; you preferably are a CMPP.
To succeed you need to provide impact and combine your knowledge and experience with outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills. You are driven and easily build constructive relationships across multi-disciplinary departments and with key thought leaders, editors and publishers and can select and manage agencies to deliver to budget and target.
You are action-oriented with ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment; and you have proven professional project management skills and people management experience.
You are a business or science graduate (PhD or MSc equivalent) and skilled at maintaining context with focus on transparency and ethics.
Expect international travel of approximately 25-30 days per year.
