Experienced Actuary to Europæiske ERV
Are you an experienced Actuary, with ambitions to head your own Actuarial expertise area for Denmark and Sweden, and do it in close collaboration with skilled colleagues across the Group and in an international environment? The role is a replacement because the current Actuary will retire within a limited time period. As Actuary, you will become part of the Finance team that manages Accounting, Controlling and Financial Planning for Europæiske ERV’s activities in Denmark and Sweden. You will report directly to the CFO and collaborate with a wide variety of passionate and experienced colleagues. There will also be close interaction with and participation in international projects together with the Group Actuary function at ERGO that owns Europæiske ERV.
The office is located in central Copenhagen, and there will be limited travelling and only in connection with cross-border network meetings, projects and conferences.
The role
In this role you will be the Head of Actuary for Denmark and Sweden. You will operate as the only headcount in Actuary and will become part of a much wider expert network. From the Group, you will receive the overall models and standards that you work with, and where you of course will adapt and adjust these to local market needs. Next to projects and recurring tasks, you will be an active driver in ensuring successful use of IFRS17, and even though models have been developed, you can expect to do some manual corrections in the models. Examples of other tasks are:
- Ensure appropriateness of methodologies and underlying models used as well as the assumptions made in the calculation of insurance technical provisions.
- Assess the sufficiency and quality of the data used in the calculation of insurance technical provisions.
- Inform the Board of Management and Board of Directors of the reliability and adequacy of the calculation of technical provisions.
- Actuarial control of the company’s underwriting by expressing an opinion about the overall underwriting policy, and on the adequacy of reinsurance arrangements.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of the risk-management system
- Support Finance in participating in the regular SII, IFRS17 and local GAAP calculations and reporting, and in collecting and structuring requested material to interim/annual external audits and ad hoc internal audits.
- Support the Management with recommendations about various matters.
The profile
We imagine you to be a dedicated and independent Actuary, who is ambitious about having influence and a strong say within your own area of expertise. In your work, you thrive with a balance between diving deep in details and interacting with others and are motivated by being able to support others as well as to share and receive professional inputs. In your communication, you can communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences. When you approach your tasks, you are critical analytical, but are also able to see opportunities and new angles to issues. In other words, we hope that you possess versatile skills and are still curious about developing yourself.
Though Europæiske ERV with their focus on travel insurances might not be the most complex service portfolio from an actuarial point of view, the complexity is still there, when it comes to you heading the function, working closely with the management, and being part of an international network. Therefore, there will be certain skills that we need:
- Master of Science in Economics, Mathematics or similar degree.
- Experience with actuarial and financial mathematics, and preferably from Insurance Claims.
- Experience with accounting principles according to DK/SWE GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with ERP, MS Office and especially Excel.
- The ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
