Chief Commercial Officer – sustainable energy transition services


Our client is a global service organization in the energy sector with a long history in operating, servicing, and constructing energy facilities hereunder having skills within Power-to-X.

The role as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is newly established and joins the organization in the middle of a transformation, which leaves vast room to influence the future set-up, ways of working, solution offerings and much more. The role encompasses all product and solution areas and an organization with 40 FTEs in the HQ in Denmark and across selected countries.

If you are a CCO with a distinct leadership profile and with strong strategic and commercial experience, and you get motivated by implementing global sales processes and common ways of working as well as creating cross- and upselling processes, this role could be interesting for you.

As CCO, you report to the CEO and becomes part of the Senior Management team. Workplace is in Denmark and outside of Copenhagen, but you can expect high travel activity across the world.

The role


As CCO, the objective is to lead and oversee all commercial activities across the business lines. This you do by setting the direction, structuring the organization to deliver on the objectives, developing go-to-market strategies as well as managing change in methodologies and mindsets. From time to time, you will need to take an active part in negotiating and closing large complex contracts. You play a crucial role in driving our client’s growth and success by effectively managing all commercial aspects of the business.

In short, your key responsibilities center around various aspects of commercial activities and leadership tasks:

  • Define and implement a common way of managing sales processes / tools / opportunities.
  • Develop and execute a sales strategy and go-to-market strategies within the individual solutions and ensure account management and set the ambitions for expanding the number of customers significantly.
  • Implement lean bid management processes and ensure coordination internally in connection with large scale projects, and that resources are invested wisely.
  • Oversee that Marketing develop marketing strategies that support sales activities – and use customer feedback to manage products and offerings to drive growth in the future.
  • Lead and manage a team of versatile skills, where you set the objectives and performance targets, provide guidance, and support, and foster a collaborative and commercially oriented mindset.
  • Establish relations with key customers and from time to time take a leading role in final negotiations and closings of large complex contracts.

The profile


As CCO, you demonstrate an ability to easily navigate between strategy, tactics, and execution and manage to make your initiatives accessible and tangible for the organization through a pragmatic and to-the-point communication. You can set a clear direction for change while keeping in mind that it takes time to create true change – and a commercial mindset.

You are hopefully a leader that can be a role model and a positive forward-looking leader to follow. You are motivated by developing people and an organization through others and can balance ambitious objectives with an understanding for the outset. You combine your unique set of personal competencies with professional experience that includes:

  • Experience from having built or transformed a commercial organization, setting strategies, driving commercial excellence, and with a strong insight in change management.
  • Academic credentials or work experience that have provided you with a methodological approach and mindset.
  • Strong experience from a commercially driven BtB environment within a technical industry, and where service sales has been part of the solution portfolio, and where the deals have represented a high financial value.
  • Proven track record in implementation of CRM systems.
  • Leadership experience, leading through others, and management experience from an international context and from a performance driven environment.
  • Fluent in English and located close to the Copenhagen capital region.
