Better Insect Solutions (BIS) is a concept and solution hub of the Big Dutchman Group comprising the sister companies: Big Dutchman, INNO+ and SKOV. For decades, these companies have provided cost-efficient and robust solutions for a wide range of technologies applied in animal farming.

Since 2020, BIS has been in operation within the insect farming sector bringing proven technology solutions of the Big Dutchman Group to market. Our portfolio covers buildings, climate systems, air cleaning, heat recovery, feeding systems, frass handling, breeding systems and management systems. All are supported by our extensive know-how of animal and insect farming and offered in collaboration with key logistics and processing partners forming an end-to-end solution. Currently the BIS team consists of 6 persons, with the responsibility of project sales, project management, business development and biological test and development.

Our solutions for robust large-scale insect production have been implemented at several international customers. Currently, our largest project under execution is an annual production of 36,000-ton BSF larvae covering a production area of 25.000 m2 to be inaugurated by mid-2023.

Job Description Summary

After commercial contract closure, you will lead one or more large and complex turnkey projects starting with the engineering phase, followed by site execution including supply, construction, electro-mechanical installation, and testing and commissioning works.

As Senior Project Manager you will personally execute the project management during the delivery phase and in addition other functions as engineering, cost control, finance, and contracts management. This must be carried out in adherence to the contract and the agreed processes and procedures.

Together with the customer organization you will plan, oversee, and ensure that the supplying brands deliver supervision and commissioning service for successful startup of the customers production as well as ensuring that the technical interfaces are aligned.

Partnering with all project stakeholders (internal and external), you are accountable for project delivery to specification, budget, on time, and according to the satisfaction of the customer. You measure, optimize, and report the key operational and financial indicators of the project in accordance with the applicable governance. You support settlements of claims in accordance with contract and the analysis of root cause of deviations and ensure the implementation of appropriate countermeasures.

The position relates to the BIS headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark, but you may be located elsewhere in Europe.

Responsibilities

• Project Integration Management: Identify all parties (internal & external stakeholders) having a profound interest in the project. Ensure their needs and impacts are balanced to make sure that there is a win-win outcome in line with the contractual obligations
  
• Project Risk Management: Implement a risk management plan involving all stakeholders of the project. Consistently track all risk activities through the life cycle of the project. Put in place accurate performance metrics to score risk and ensures communication of risk
  
• Project Change Management: Identify, sell, and manage change orders in cooperation with the responsible BIS Key Account Manager
  
• Project Cost & Finance Management: Understand and demonstrate financial management for the benefit of the company and understand financial reports and systems sufficiently to know and report the financial status of a project, at any given time. Ensure that resources are best utilized
  
• Project Scope Management: Demonstrate the ability not only to manage the overall scope of the project but also to oversee the scope of each participating entity to ensure all interfaces/overlaps are understood
  
• Project Time Management: Ensure that all the specific activities (including proactive claim management) that must be performed to produce the various project deliverables are identified, planned, and carried out by the stakeholders. Report on status at any given time
  
• Project Management Team: Over time and in sync with the global expansion of the BIS business develop and lead a team of Project Managers.

Qualification and Experience

• Proven experience of leading high value turnkey projects with several internal and external stakeholders
• Project management in an international environment with experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and high local project content
• +10 years of experience in project management
• Preferably substantial knowledge within one or more of the areas; HVAC, warehouse automation, and material handling systems
• Experience with project management software
• Business understanding
• Ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
• Efficient problem identification and solution skills
• Proven analytical and organizational ability
• Strong communication skills - oral as well as written
• Fluent in English – other languages may be an advantage
• Engineering degree or equivalent educational level
• Comfortable with international travelling, occasionally over longer periods.
