Vestas Turbine Solutions (VTS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrialising wind turbines and related products. It is here that we lay Vestas' technical and technological foundation for staying the global leader in sustainable energy solutions by continuously reducing the Levelised Cost of Energy.
As Vestas continues to grow, we have an immediate opening for a Project Manager, responsible driving advance technology- and new module development projects within Powertrain Engineering.
Turbine Solutions Powertrain Powertrain Engineering
The Powertrain Engineering department in VTS currently consists of 55 highly skilled employees, primarily situated in Denmark and Germany, and with local teams in China and US. The department is accountable for the Powertrain Module, converting mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical power.
The Powertrain Module consists of Sub-Modules and Building Blocks such as the main gearbox, generator, main bearing arrangement, lubrication system and auxiliary components such as brakes, couplings and suspension/damper systems.
Here, activities include all facets product development, from scope preparation in collaboration with Technical Leads, to specification of requirements and concepts, through to product development and to final validation in the field. Many activities are anchored at external partners such as suppliers, consultancy networks, universities or at our design hubs in Portugal and India, so this requires a candidate who holds good communication skills, a commercial mindset, and not least, a distinct ability to drive technical and challenging projects forward.
Responsibilities
Your responsibility will be project management of advance technology- and new module development projects, you will report to the Director of Powertrain Engineering, hence become part of the Powertrain mgmt. team. which sets out the strategy and drives initiatives across our four teams in Denmark and Germany.”

Main activities under this responsibility will include:
- Project management of integrated product development projects acc. to Vestas' Stage/Gate models
- Secure project delivery within agreed scope/quality, budget and time.
- Lead multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and stakeholders.
- Report on project progress, act on deviations.
- Coach, mentor, supervise and inspire colleagues and teams in overcoming project- and technical challenges.
- Build and develop project management processes, tools and best practices within Powertrain Engineering, and in collaboration with neighbouring Modules and internal excellence centre.
Qualifications
- Engineering and/or Business degree
- Project management education and/or project management training course certificate
- Min. 3-5 years of proven experience in management of medium- to high complexity development projects
- Experienced user of project management tools such as MS-Project and JIRA
- Excellent language skills (speaking and writing) in English are required.
Competencies
- You are pro-active, result oriented and has a strong sense of responsibility
- You have an excellent commercial/ business understanding and can naturally incorporate external partners, as well as the full value chain of Vestas, into your daily work
- Experienced in communicating with stakeholders at all levels
- Knowledge of Prince2
- Familiar with Six Sigma development tools and methodologies
- You are motivated in working with advanced project management tools, KPI's and project performance metrics.
