Together with 37 skilled colleagues, you will be a part of the growing Anaesthesia & Patient Monitoring R&D unit at our headquarter in Ballerup and will report directly to Senior Director, Jakob Bønnelykke Kristensen. Our focus in on developing, improving, and maintaining the medical devices within our product categories Anaesthesia, Neurology, Cardiology as well as Emergency Care and Training. The R&D unit is part of Ambu’s Global Innovation organization that currently consists of 300+ people on multiple sites around the world. We have a great innovation culture and a clear focus on short time from idea to product launch. We focus on developing new products and production processes that combine several technologies in new and innovative ways and this sets high demands for your creativity, collaboration and technical knowledge.
Your role – ensuring design for manufacturing and design for assembly
Based on your extensive knowledge within manufacturing technologies, you will be a key person in our new product development projects to bring our device design from prototype to implementation in production. You will be working closely with our R&D engineers throughout the project duration where your focus will be on manufacturability, design for assembly, and mainly within materials such as polymers, elastomers and adhesives. In addition, you will be working closely with our internal and external suppliers, and our Global Innovation and Operations colleagues around the world.

You will also coordinate needs from procurement and subcontractors, in connection with the development and implementation activities. In order to meet your objectives, you will work closely with the R&D teams in Denmark, China, Malaysia and US and also with QA/RA across the Ambu locations.
Team-oriented engineer with experience in design for manufacturing and design for assembly
To succeed in this job, it is important that you are capable of working independently but also a true team-player in a global context, which means that you like to cooperate and utilize the diversity in the Global Innovation team. You are open minded and see changes as a positive development. Additionally, you are proactive, and results-oriented.
As a minimum you may have a bachelor´s degree within mechanical engineering or an equivalent background. You have at least 5 years experience in development of components and processes for production of medical devices. “Hands-on” experience from planning and establishing medical device manufacturing such as injection moulding is preferred, as well as experience with design transfer, process validation planning, and execution.
Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English. In particular, it is important that you communicate on a high level in written English and that you are willing to travel approximately 20-30 days per year.

- Participate in our development projects ensuring design for manufacturing .
- Ensure solid component and product design from a manufacturing point of view in close collaboration with the R&D engineers.
- Development of new high-tech and robust manufacturing processes and ensuring high quality documentation.
- Specification and implementation of new process equipment for new products, according to the business strategy and external requirements.
- Cooperate closely with colleagues in Ballerup, China, Malaysia and US, and with our external partners primarily situated in Asia.
- Coordinate process validation activities in close cooperation with our manufacturing sites in China, Malaysia and US.
