Can you help drive the execution of a development program?

If you are an experienced drug development Program Manager who thrives on working with Global Program Teams to develop innovative therapies for medical dermatology, we have just the right job for you in our R&D Portfolio and Program Leadership function.

LEO Pharma has set the very ambitious goal to become the world’s preferred dermatology care partner.
To succeed, we have made historical investments within R&D and in the last years developed new systemic and innovative medicines for patients with unmet medical needs. We have a strong pipeline and a lot of inter-esting projects but we are far from done. And that is why we need you and all of your skills as a drug devel-opment program manager in our quest for new treatments that can make a real difference for people all over the world.

Help Global Program Teams achieve their goals

You will work closely with a Global Program Head (GPH) or Global Program Leader (GPL) to establish the
strategy for your assigned asset. This is done through engagement with the cross-functional Global Asset Team (GAT), for which you will have responsibilities of setting the agenda, preparing minutes, and maintaining good team spirit and working environment. Once the strategy is set, you are a critical part of monitoring execution against the plan, developing and maintaining key project information sites and reports, understanding details about functional spend and timelines, and identifying risks to the program deliverables which need action from the GAT.

You are responsible for management and financial reporting for the asset you manage in collaboration with GAT, ensuring relevant input from the cross-functional team. You may be assigned to lead or participate in workstreams/workgroups identified by GAT. This could for example include planning, facilitating and/or actively participating in workshops, securing input from functional areas and/or execution and follow-up on tasks within the GAT and/or working closely with focus team leads to facilitate delivery of recommendations and find
solutions.

You will be responsible for driving the materials and securing input to decisions through governance – together with the cross-functional team, and in close coordination with Finance and the R&D team owning the
governance process. This could be decisions related to gate passage in our stage gate process or key deci-sions related to driving the program forward in development. You are a key player in ensuring smooth day-to-day
operations in the program and you will have the ability to influence your work. Everything you do is a team
effort, so you must thrive in a cross-functional work environment. You are not necessarily a functional expert, but you need to be able to understand the pharmaceutical value chain, follow along in cross-functional
discussions, and contribute with your project management and collaboration skills to consolidate these and move the program forward.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Serve as a member of the GAT
  • Ensure phase appropriate, cross-functional, program plan is developed, including alternative scenarios
  • Work with functional leads to estimate budget and timelines for program
  • Schedule Asset team meetings, develop agenda (with team) and prepare minutes
  • Facilitate cross-functional conversations (tactical and strategic) and drive discussions
  • towards alignment or decision
  • Independently drive cross-functional collaboration, even in complex situations
  • Serve as an ambassador for globalization and manage time zone and culture differences to achieve team engagement
  • Proactively identify issues and risks – bringing them to the attention of the GPL/GPH
  • Work with team to define project team goals and monitor progress throughout the year, highlighting risks as necessary
  • Monitor and proactively manage the team dynamic and functioning
  • Maintain program team sites, and ensure relevant information is available for team members and stakeholders use

A driven team player with strong collaborative skills
We are looking for a university trained candidate (B.Sc., M.Sc., Cand. Pharm, MD or PhD in a life science
discipline) preferably with 7-10+ years´ pharmaceutical drug development experience, understanding of the pharmaceutical value chain, and experience from working in cross-functional teams. We are a mix of people in the team, some with a scientific, life-science background, and others with a more business/commercial or
project management background, who have gained a strong scientific understanding and knowledge of drug
development through work within the industry.

You are known for your open and positive mindset and find it motivating to work in teams and help other peo-ple to be their best. As part of this, you must know how to understand and summarize scientific data (written and verbal) and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues from a variety of scientific and business
disciplines. Additionally, you have a good understanding of team dynamics and how to promote and support constructive collaboration – with understanding of and due respect to cultural, geographical, and professional differences.

Your new department
R&D Project and Alliance Management department resides in the R&D Portfolio and Program Leadership area in Global R&D. We are a great and diverse team of Global Program Managers and Alliance Managers responsi-ble for driving portfolio projects. Our environment is founded on trust, respect, collaboration and knowledge
sharing. We believe that people that thrive make the greatest results. We know that we can only succeed as a team and for the same reason we have an on-going focus on teamwork and collaboration.
