Oxfam IBIS is growing and expanding our international development work. Are you passionate about economic justice, human rights, gender justice and democratic international development, and do you believe that private sector can play a key role in achieving these agendas and also need to be held accountable to international standards and the SDG’s, then you might be our new colleague in Oxfam IBIS.
We are looking for a combined Programme Coordinator and Private Sector Advisor to the team working with Economic Justice and Inclusive Democracies (EJID) in the International Programme Department. The position will focus on two closely interconnected areas of work streams that are crucial for achieving the overall programme and policy ambitions outlined in Oxfam IBIS’ strategy Fighting Inequality 2018 – 2022.
The programme coordinator functions will constitute approximately 50% of the position. The successful candidate will have focal point responsibility for at least one country or regional programme that Oxfam IBIS is collaborating with. This involves collaboration with programme management, Oxfam staff and partners in all phases of the programme cycle; from strategy and programme design to ensuring quality implementation and results achievements of the programmes, to monitoring, reporting and learning. Capacity building of staff and partners within key competence areas of the candidate, advising programmes on influencing and policy engagement and facilitating linkages from national level initiatives to Oxfam IBIS’s work at the European, Danish and international level will also be important areas of responsibility. Further, the candidate is expected to play a role in ensuring high quality in the EJID team’s overall reporting to Danida and other institutional and/or private donors.
The private sector advisor functions will constitute the other 50% of the position, covering private sector initiatives in our programme countries and engagement with Danish and/or international private sector. Oxfam IBIS believes that the private sector has the potential to play an important role in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals and reducing global poverty and inequality. This requires full transparency and accountability of the private sector and the agendas on responsible investments and human rights standards are taken to new levels.
The successful candidate will be responsible for further developing Oxfam IBIS’ private sector strategy and executing selected interventions in relation to e.g. responsible investments, the ESG agenda, business and human rights, and coordinate initiatives in programme countries with relevant international and Danish private sector policy agendas and influencing. You will participate in selected fora and networks on private sector and coordinate closely with colleagues in Oxfam and in our office in Copenhagen.
Finally, the position will, in collaboration with innovation and fundraising colleagues, explore new and ways of collaborating with private sector actors to promote our agenda on accountability and human rights. This includes conducting due diligence of potential private sector donors and develop influencing strategies to improve their responsibilities on human rights, tax etc.
Qualifications
The position will refer to the International Programme Director and be part of the team on Economic Justice and Inclusive Democracies. The role is, however, highly cross-functional and requires close collaboration with the Policy Department and all teams across the organisation in order to contribute to programmes, policy work, campaigning and fundraising.
Conditions of employment
The workplace will be at Oxfam IBIS’ headquarters in Copenhagen. Travel of up to 60 days per year can be expected. Salary and working conditions are based on present collective agreement in Oxfam IBIS. Pay grading will be based on the level of experience.
Starting date: August-September 2020
For further information about the position, please contact Team Coordinator Morten Bisgaard on e-mail [email protected], or Director of International Programmes Niels Hjortdal on [email protected]
