København Ø
Niels Bohr Institute at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Project manager for Diversity and Inclusion in the NQCP quantum ecosystem with effect from 1 April 2024.
About us
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, generously funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels - from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.
The job
The NQCP vision is to create a world-leading quantum ecosystem that radically improves the quantum computing landscape and creates societal impact. To get there, we will establish and facilitate an international mission-driven programme that involves all needed scientific and engineering fields. This is a challenging task, technically and organizationally, and requires the creation of an interdisciplinary quantum ecosystem. The quantum ecosystem reaches out to many partners and satellites in academia as well as industry.
It is imperative for the NQCP mission that all members of the quantum ecosystem experience directly that they are included in and contribute towards the NQCP mission.
You will be responsible for creating and implementing the NQCP inclusion and diversity strategy. The NQCP is committed to diversity, in terms of gender, race and nationality, as well as scientific background. Diversity is critical for the NQCP success not just an afterthought. Concerning both inclusion and diversity the task takes its offset in the NQCP Centre hub but also extends to the entire quantum ecosystem of partners and satellites as well as to the coming generations of quantum scientists/engineers and you will be part of both local and international networks within this area.
You will be involved in the establishment, correspondence with and evaluation of the NQCP partners and satellites. We expect that this part will take up half of your worktime. You will be part of the NQCP Centre hub team, with an independent responsibility area. Your work on inclusion and diversity in the NQCP Ecosystem naturally overlaps with the NQCP efforts on education and talent and you will refer to Head of Education and Outreach in NQCP.
We expect that you can tick off several boxes below
We offer
A central position in the newly established Quantum programme at University of Copenhagen where you will be an essential part of realising the mission of NQCP.
You will report to the head of Education and Outreach and will be working at interface between the support teams and the researchers throughout the NQCP ecosystem.
Life in Denmark is supported with strong social services (free universal healthcare, free/subsidised language courses, paid parental leave, subsidised day care institutions and excellent public schools). Our work culture is very egalitarian and prioritises work life balance. Dual career families are the norm, and workplaces offer flexibility to support everyone in having both an exciting career and good family time. Danish cities are known for having excellent infrastructure, for example through widespread bike path networks. We can also offer a thriving food-scene, excellent museums, and beautiful natural scenery.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as academic employee or special consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
The position is limited until 31 December 2029 and appointment will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.
