Do you want to help dig deeper into what works and why when it comes to supporting social movements, activists and organizers globally? Are you passioned about documenting, curating and analyzing lessons from the field? Then this position is for you!


ActionAid Denmark is part of ActionAid International, a global federation working in 45 countries guided by the shared global strategy ‘Action for Global Justice’. The strategy is rooting us deeply where we work, and with the people and social movements whose rights and visions we work to achieve.

One of the key ambitions is to further develop our work with social movement activists and organizers globally, while at the same time make it a stong part of our own organizational change over the next few years with a vision of transforming into an activist organization for the 21st century.

As the “Organizing and social movement documentation coordinator” you will help create and document lessons on what works and why when it comes to working with social movement activists and organizers globally. This is to both make our specific practice better but also to help us on our organizational transformative journey.

As the Organizing and social movement documentation coordinator you will:


  • Coordinate and support the documentation of lessons within and across the Youth Organising and Activism (YOA) team’s priority area of organizing and social movements support, social innovation and the Youth Community - to be used for strengthening our approaches and deliverables vis a vis our DANIDA frame funding and Theory of Change.
  • Harvest and analyze social movement and organizing experience from the Global Platforms
  • Lead the development of an organizing learning framework in collaboration with the organizing co lead and acting Head of YOA – this includes, but is not limited to documenting lessons from the different components of the organizing project (above) – develop interview guides and outcome harvest format that enables better overview of lessons in terms of what works for effective organizing and the development of further learning products for organizers.
  • Study the trends of the sector in terms of community building and organizing practices especially on the use of digital platforms and modes of organizing and driving campaigns/doing direct action with the intention of analyzing AADKs potential role and niche for further development of engagements and strategic activities with the YOA team and the Global Platforms.
  • Support the project management of the organizing project in terms of budget, planning and reporting
  • Support the Youth Community of Interest with analysis of digital platforms for community building and communications based on needs from the community of activists they engage with.

The job requires that you have:


  • Experience with conducting interviews for documenting, analyzing, curating and transforming lessons from praxis into concrete products (preferably within the area of social movements, organizing, social innovation and community building)
  • Experienced in using digital medias and platforms for documentation, analysis and curating content
  • Experiences from supporting and engaging with social movements and youth activists globally
  • Knowledge of and experience in digital aspects of campaigning, organizing practices and community building
  • Experience from managing/coordinating global projects and networks
  • Strategic mind-set and diplomatic approach

We offer you:


  • A 1 year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of a short extension, based in Denmark with flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance between private- family- and work-life is possible.
  • A comprehensive compensation package where salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the agreement between ActionAid Denmark and Danish labor unions. An obligatory pension scheme is a part of the package, as well as salary supplements for fixed-terms and managers. Different terms and conditions could apply if the position would be based outside of Denmark.

  • You will become part of AADK’s Youth Organizing and Activism team; a solid team of dedicated professionals and activists, who are consistently working on creating change. The team is a global support team with employees based in 9 different countries.
  • We expect a minimum of 20 travel days / year.
