Then join us and become a Site & Construction Manager at the client organisation Femern A/S. The Site & Construction Manager duties will include the assurance of design & build contractors fulfilment of requirements to the marine and land-based civil works construction, under the Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation Contract.

About us
Preparations for the construction of the 18 km long Fehmarnbelt Immersed tunnel between Rødbyhavn on Lolland in Denmark and Puttgarden in Germany are well underway. Femern A/S is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. The company is part of the Danish state-owned Sund & Bælt Group.

The Job
You will be a part of The Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation team who is primarily responsible for the initial work harbours and the dredging of the tunnel trench. Finally, the immersed tunnel will be placed securely in the tunnel trench. Dredging and Reclamation team monitors and manage the contract for dredging of the approximately 17.6 km long trench which will be excavated/dredged at the bottom of the Fehmarnbelt.

Working alongside the Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation Contract Director, you will fulfil a key role in the leadership of the Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation Team and in the management of the Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation construction works and site supervision.

Your key tasks will include:
As the Site & Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the site & construction management of the full project implementation lifecycle. That involves managing and monitoring/supervising the Tunnel Dredging and Reclamation Contract works as well as other related construction activities, including spill monitoring, progress reporting and construction method reviews as well as ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsible for the Site & Construction Management
  • Monitors & assures compliance with requirements of marine and land-based civil work on the Femern A/S mega project. Monitor and support construction and environmental superintendents & field engineers to ensure project compliance with the contract drawings and specifications.
  • Review the contractors work methods, materials, equipment and work schedule for projects marine and land-based civil work. Review the daily or weekly work schedule with direct reports and updates to the teams Design & Engineering Manager, Project Control Manager and Contract Director.
  • Liaise with work crews, field engineers and local stakeholders on a daily basis to ensure all parties are conducting safe activities in and around the Femern A/S job sites and on the Fehmernbelt.
  • Leadership and managing of the site & construction management team/consultants.
  • Coordination and reporting across the project matrix organization and the functional departments

Your profile: A dynamic and proactive Construction Manager
You have a degree in Civil Engineering or similar and more than 10-15 years’ experience from construction management on similar complex large-scale international projects.

The ideal candidate will have the following key competencies & qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Proven ability to handle complex construction projects using strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage difficult schedules and project demands while maintaining strict adherence to project safety & environmental programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate construction requirements and issues clearly to both construction and non-construction audiences
  • Native, bilingual or full professional proficiency, in English
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and pro-active with good attention to detail

Desirable criteria

  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operations for preferably both marine and land-based activities and especially Dredging and Reclamation works.
  • Formal Health & Safety trained certification preferred.
  • Professional working proficiency, in Danish and/or German
