Who we are looking for:
Our new communications colleague can operate and drive their own outputs while being able to skillfully bring their work products and efforts to the internal UNICEF Denmark team as well as to team members around the world. At UNICEF Denmark, we have a strong focus on collaboration, and a vital skill for this role is the ability to work as a link between departments and key focal points.
The position:
UNICEF Denmark is leading some of UNICEF’s most ambitious partnerships and therefore we are searching for a professional and highly structured Partnership Communications Specialist for our External Communications unit. The successful candidate is driven by working in support of UNICEF’s mandate and enjoys applying their expertise to advocate for and advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our new colleague will act as global communications partner on, for example, Pandora, and will play a vital role in ensuring that both UNICEF and our partners communicate in a way that is engaging and professional while reaching all relevant stakeholders. They will also act as a key focal point for UNICEF´s Partnership Division in Geneva and will liaise with UNICEF’s Division of Global Communications and Advocacy based in New York City. The successful candidate thrives in international multi-stakeholder organizational set-ups, where collaboration, negotiation and diplomacy are key elements of successful partnership communication.
Responsibilities:
Partnership communication
- Lead and drive partnership communication in support of one or more of UNICEF’s Priority Shared Value Partnerships (PSVPs) in close collaboration with UNICEF programme leads, communication specialists and partners’ advocacy and communication teams.
- Collaborate and influence across multi-stakeholder networks to coordinate and align communication ambitions and objectives with due diligence considerations.
- Ability and interest in developing an in-depth understanding of the key issue the partnership is addressing and develop issue-based communication and shape advocacy with programme staff and experts; View to lead on an agenda together with the partner, all within UNICEF’s boundaries of independence.
- Work in close collaboration with UNICEF programme leads, communication specialists and partners’ advocacy and communication teams to develop annual communication plans for efficient partnership communication at global level, key moments at regional level and/or a key priority country activation.
- Initiate and coordinate regular press efforts and social media content to acknowledge partners’ contributions and to showcase partnership programme achievements.
- Identity relevant communication platforms for the partnership and plan closely with communications stakeholders across UNICEF HQ on upcoming global events, campaigns and other communication initiatives.
Internal collaboration
- Work closely with the Partnership Managers on the shared value partnerships.
- Work closely with cross-cutting departments in UNICEF Denmark, UNICEF's Private Fundraising and Partnerships division based in Geneva and UNICEF's country offices, regional offices and headquarters in New York.
- Collaborate closely with the rest of the External Communications unit in the Communications Department to ensure alignment and synergies of content production and media efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with working in international organizations, preferably with UN experience or other political organizations.
- A proven ability to effectively manage high profile global partnership communications initiatives, with experience with successful advocacy campaigns, digital communications, and outreach to global and national Danish media.
- Master’s Degree in Communications / Global Marketing / Journalism / Public Relations
- Experience in international communications, journalism, advocacy, public relations or campaigns.
- Languages: Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills – preferably with Danish skills as well.
Employment terms:
The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is on Danish terms. The employment is temporary for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
