Finance System Owner

Do you have a couple of years' experience working with Microsoft D365 and enjoy taking responsibility for a wider scope of finance systems? Do you like a vibe of engaged, professional colleagues and cooperating with multiple stakeholders in an international environment? Then you may be our new colleague taking on the role as Finance System Owner role in our Group Finance team.

Who we are

Svitzer is a leading Global Towage Operator providing towage and sustainable marine solutions to make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate friendly. We operate in 30+ countries across four Regions: Australia, AMEA, Europe and America and have approx. 4,400 employees and 440 vessels operating worldwide to safely service more than 150 ports and terminals across the globe.

We operate globally 24/7, which means that things rarely stand still. However, we are good at manoeuvring being busy, as we enjoy working as a team by listening to and helping each other. We also appreciate when colleagues voice their opinions.

In recent years we have grown our business through new contracts and acquisitions, and growing continues to be a focus. At the same time, we are implementing our new Strategy, which prioritises Decarbonization and Technology. However, our standard marine services remain critical to us.

We are currently on a new journey, separating from the Maersk Group and becoming a listed company on the Danish stock exchange end April 2023.

The Position

Our new Finance System Owner will join a team of 18+ engaged and professional finance colleagues in our headquarters in Nordhavn, Copenhagen

Taking on the role as Finance System Owner, you will become subject matter expert for finance related systems, including Microsoft D365 (ERP), Baseware (Invoice Processing System), Expensify (T&E), Readsoft (Scanning) and the newly purchased payment Treasury application.

You will play an instrumental role in the interaction between business stakeholders, end-users of various finance systems, and the IT Delivery manager. Moreover, you will work closely with Functional Business Process Owners (BPO) and other cross-functional colleagues in the Svitzer headquarters and our global business.

Travel days may be expected up to 10-15 days per year.

Key responsibilities in the role include:

  • Operational support towards the end-user: A key part of your role is to be the focal point for incident management for the finance systems. You will help support the end-users in case of functional problems, questions, potential bugs etc. mainly in Microsoft D365 and will act as first level support. You will do this by analyze, evaluating and resolve end-user issues in cooperation with external support specialists. By doing this you will also contribute and drive continuous improvement of the application’s quality and optimal usage.

  • Release Management: You will work closely with the IT Delivery manager and the ERP project team on planning the system’s upgrades. You write user acceptance test scenarios and organize testing with end-users, as well execute testing yourself. You participate to post-release sanity-checking and participate in the process of defining action plans in case of severe problems together with the Finance BPO, and IT delivery manager. You organize all necessary communication and training within Svitzer towards primarily the actual end-users of the system.

  • Managing business updates: Based on e.g. new business, contractual or legal requirements from either the ERP roll-out or the business in general you will take necessary initiatives to translate business needs into system requirements. You validate thoroughly detailed functional analysis of the concerned systems and where possible involving the actual end-users or stakeholders and preparing the documentation and business cases and be instrumental in the approval and implementation process.

  • Configuration and Master Data Management: As part of the role, you will be responsible to maintain configuration and some master data objects such as Payment Workflows, Tax Declaration Files, Tax Set-up etc. You will interact frequently with the Master Data Team in Shared Serviced Center in Pune, India and participate in the development of new business processes based on additional local or Group requirements.

Who we are looking for

We foresee that the ideal candidate holds a relevant Masters Degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance, IT and have a good understanding of finance related processes and master data in general.

Moreover, we expect that you have:

  • Min. 2-4 years of professional experience from a similar position or have worked as a consultant in D365 Finance. D365 Certification in Finance & Operations is preferred.
  • Experience working with Incident Management and Release Management - ITIL knowledge will be seen as an advantage

  • You must be fluent in oral and written English, as this is our corporate language, and hold a valid Danish residence and work permit
