One of our key colleagues has decided to go on pension and we are therefore looking for a new colleague who can help lift the tasks as a financial controller at Oxfam IBIS!
We are looking for our new colleague as soon as possible and preferably starting November 1, 2020.
Who are we?
The Oxfam IBIS Controller team consists of six controllers in addition to one internal auditor. We are part of the Operations department of a total of 12 employees who are responsible for finance, IT and HR at Oxfam IBIS.
The Controller team is made up of primarily economists, however with different professional backgrounds and experiences in relation to financial management. We place emphasis on a strong and supportive collaboration within the department and across the organisation, not least driven by mutual respect and a good sense of humour during busy periods.

Wages and working conditions are in accordance with the current CFU agreement and Oxfam IBIS' ‘House Agreement’. Placement is based on experience and education.

The Controller team is made up of primarily economists, however with different professional backgrounds and experiences in relation to financial management. We place emphasis on a strong and supportive collaboration within the department and across the organisation, not least driven by mutual respect and a good sense of humour during busy periods.
Specifically, we are responsible for:
- In collaboration with our dedicated program colleagues, the budgeting and monitoring of projects finances
- Obtaining a thorough understanding of donors' requirements and ensuring compliance with these
- Travelling 4-6 weeks a year, primarily to Africa and Latin America, to follow up on the expenditure of funds at the Oxfam Country Offices and among local partners
- Providing follow-up and support on internal department accounts
- Preparing monthly and annual accounts
- Preparation of applications to donors
- To a lesser degree the posting of financial expense reports from Oxfam Country Offices and local partners
Who are we looking for?
- You have an academic degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent work experience, but not necessarily from the NGO sector
- You have strong knowledge/experience with Excel as well as MS Office in general and may have worked with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other ERP programs
- You have knowledge of contracts (donor, collaboration, consultant, deliveries, etc.)
- You thrive on providing advice and consulting – colleagues locally and externally – in terms of project finances, status reporting, donor compliance, etc.
- You know how to plan and meet deadlines, but do not panic when there is a tender for an urgent project
- You recognise that budgets and spreadsheets are one thing, but that the reality in developing countries and among your professional colleagues is different and more unpredictable
- You are acquainted with stakeholder requirements and the need to deliver quality on time
- You are service-minded and understand that the Controller role is both a support and a monitoring function
- You have a structured approach and thrive on creating, maintaining and continuously improving internal procedures and guidelines
- You thrive on having responsibility and can work independently
- You are a team player who helps during busy periods
- It is not a prerequisite that you speak Danish, but you must at least be able to communicate fluently (writing/orally) in English and preferably another foreign language (French, Spanish, Arabic)
