As we are increasingly busy, we are looking for a new colleague to assist with existing and new assignments. Starting date is as soon as possible and preferably not later than 1 September 2021.
The position will end by December 31, 2021 but is expected to be converted to a fixed position under the condition that the Strategic Partnership Agreement with Danida for the period 2022-2025 is approved expectantly in October /November 2021
Who are we?
The Oxfam IBIS Controller team consists of six controllers in addition to one internal auditor. We are part of the Operations department of a total of 11 employees, who are responsible for finance and IT at Oxfam IBIS.
The Controller team is made up of primarily economists, however with different professional backgrounds and experiences in relation to financial management. We place emphasis on a strong and supportive collaboration within the department and across the organization, not least driven by mutual respect and a good sense of humour – also during busy periods.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a new colleague with a financial mindset coupled with an all-round grasp on project management and donor and contract compliance matters. You should have a fundamental desire to establish best-practices and knowledge sharing besides providing professional support to inhouse colleagues and across Oxfam’s vast international network. Particularly our new colleague should:
You must as minimum be able to communicate fluently in English (writing/orally) and a minimal proficiency in Danish is preferred. A solid understanding of French or Arabic is an advantage.
You must be based in greater Copenhagen area and have a Danish work permit upon commencing the position.
What we can offer
You will refer to the Director of Operations (CFO, IT).
Wages and working conditions are in accordance with the current CFU agreement and Oxfam IBIS' ‘House Agreement’. Your gross monthly salary will be determined in accordance to your professional seniority and academic degree.

Specifically, we are responsible for:
- In collaboration with our dedicated program colleagues and Oxfam country offices, the preparation of budgets, accounts, and decision-related materials in connection with the financial and contractual management of ongoing and upcoming projects
- Obtaining a thorough understanding of donor requirements, the preparation of applications to donors, ensure donor compliance across projects in addition to reporting to donors.
- Coordinate with and maintain dialogue with Oxfam’s country offices about program/project financials, contractual matters, and general project management.
- Preparing and monitoring contracts entered between Oxfam IBIS and Oxfam country offices/partners
- Travelling 4-6 weeks a year (conditioned on COVID-19 restrictions), with the aim of monitoring funds’ expenditure/administration at the Oxfam country offices and among local partners besides capacity building/training and actual observation/assessment of general project management
- Providing follow-up and support on internal department accounts
- To a lesser degree posting of financial expense reports from Oxfam country offices and local partners
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a new colleague with a financial mindset coupled with an all-round grasp on project management and donor and contract compliance matters. You should have a fundamental desire to establish best-practices and knowledge sharing besides providing professional support to inhouse colleagues and across Oxfam’s vast international network. Particularly our new colleague should:
- Have an academic degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent work experience, but not necessarily from the NGO sector
- Have a strong knowledge/experience with MS Office and may have worked with Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform, Business Central (or other ERP program), Power BI, Sharepoint, Teams
- Have knowledge of contracts (donor, collaboration, consultant, deliveries, etc.)
- Have basic understanding and experience with audit process.
- Thrive on providing advice and consulting – colleagues locally and externally – in terms of project finances, status reporting, donor compliance, etc.
- Know how to plan and structure and not panic under tight deadlines.
- Recognize that budgets and spreadsheets are one thing, but that the reality in developing countries and among your professional colleagues is different and more unpredictable.
- Be acquainted with stakeholder requirements and the need to deliver quality on time.
- Be service-minded and understand that the Controller role is both a support and a monitoring function.
- Thrive on having responsibility and can work independently.
