On behalf of our client, Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), we are searching for their new Financial Controller. In this role you will refer to the Chief Accountant and work closely with him and the rest of the financial team incl. A Financial Controller.
In this role you will support your colleagues in the financial team preparing accounting figures for quarterly investor reports as well as assisting with preparing annual accounts for selected companies. You will also assist with preparing interim and full-year accounts, including review and reconciliation of valuation reports for IFU’s investments. Furthermore, the new candidate will assist in preparation of audit documentation for statutory audit and will also be involved in the implementation of a new control environment in the accounting department – including designing and implementing new controls.
The ideal candidate we are looking for comes with a relevant degree such as Cand.Merc.Aud, HDR or similar, as well as roughly 1-3 years experience from a similar position within a financial institution or a consultancy firm. Furthermore, knowledge of financial instruments is a plus.

IFU – Investment Fund for Developing Countries is Denmark’s development finance institution providing risk capital to private sector companies in developing countries and emerging markets in Africa, Asia, Latin America and parts of Europe. The purpose is to create green, just and inclusive societies in the investment countries and support the Sustainable Development Goals. IFU focuses its investment on four primary sectors:
IFU’s investments are made on commercial terms in the form of equity, loans and guarantees. The current portfolio consists of 161 companies.
IFU has a strong focus on impact. All investments must support the green transition and contribute to poverty alleviation and reduced inequality. Furthermore, IFU demands that project companies adhere to national and international regulations on human rights, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption, environment as well as workers’ rights, for example.
IFU aims to be a best-in-class impact investor and has launched internal initiatives on digital transformation, data management and other capabilities to realise this strategic aim.
IFU has 120+ employees representing 18 different nationalities, with approximately 15 percent of staff located at our regional representations in India, Kenya, Ghana, Brazil and Ukraine. Approximately 22 people managers at different levels and with diverse experience.

On behalf of our client, Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), we are searching for their new Financial Controller. In this role you will refer to the Chief Accountant and work closely with him and the rest of the financial team incl. A Financial Controller.
About the role
In this role you will support your colleagues in the financial team preparing accounting figures for quarterly investor reports as well as assisting with preparing annual accounts for selected companies. Furthermore, the new candidate will assist in preparation of audit documentation for statutory audit and will also be involved in the implementation of a new control environment in the accounting department – including designing and implementing new controls.
As their new Financial Controller, your responsibilities will also include the following tasks:
- Assistance in connection with the preparation of budgets.
- Assisting with consolidation and preparation of financial reporting to EU on specific investment mandates.
- Ongoing verification of information in IFU's ERP IT system, including support in controlling underlying documentation.
- Controlling of annual accounts for portfolio companies.
- Controlling of periodical financial reporting from portfolio companies.
About you
The ideal candidate we are looking for comes with a relevant degree such as Cand.Merc.Aud, HDR or similar, as well as roughly 1-3 years experience from a similar position within a financial institution or a consultancy firm. Furthermore, knowledge of financial instruments is a plus.

- Have knowledge of IFRS and Danish Annual Accounting Act
- Be self-motivated and driven, with the initiative to involve colleagues when necessary to achieve goals.
- Be able to anticipate potential issues and proactively develop solutions.
- Adapt well to dynamic environments, embracing evolving procedures, and thrives in developing solutions where established protocols are absent.
- Speak and write English on a professional level.
