We are looking for a self-starting, goal-oriented all-rounder to join our HQ Reporting & Controlling Team in Sealand Europe & Mediterranean.
As Finance Controller in Sealand Europe & Mediterranean you will report to the Head of Reporting and Controlling and as Deputy Head, also you will have increased responsibility within the team. As Finance Controller, you be part of a team of four Finance Controllers and a Student Assistant in Copenhagen that are supported by GSC teams with about 85 staff. You will work closely together with senior management.
You have a pivotal role in ensuring a high level of quality in our financial data and report and that day to day finance execution is managed efficiently and supports the requirements of the business.

As financial controller, you will also be deputy Head of Reporting and Controlling, and have increased responsibility within the team for reporting, controlling and overall team engagement. You will also act as a sparring partner for the greater team with respect to technical accounting and compliance issues.
• Overall accounting and trial balance controlling for the Sealand Europe legal entity, including balance sheet hygiene and compliance with group and local accounting policies, and ensuring material financial reporting risks are accounted for
• Period end closing – overall understanding of result including underlying result, trade result and exceptional items
• Group and statutory reporting, external audit, financial compliance and tax compliance
• Company administration for a Danish legal entity, including documentation requirements and handling of litigation
• Identifying tax, transfer pricing, legal and accounting issues to ensure non-compliance is mitigated and managed
• Contributing to forecast process, including calculating amounts, analysis and commentary
• Ensuring local statutory reporting requirements are met and filed in accordance with local accounting policies, including preparing financial statement disclosures
• Following the control framework of the Group and ensuring that control activities are properly executed (including fraud awareness) and ensuring feedback to management on control deficiencies in local control environment
• Taking on any finance related projects as and when required, and address on-demand business issues, including establishing domain end-to-end knowledge for new lines of business under development
We are looking for a proactive individual with a technical accounting background who has leadership potential and who can challenge the status quo at all levels of the organisation - even the most senior levels.
Your experience should ideally include:
• Bachelor or Master’s in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business
• Public accounting accreditation is required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial reporting or controlling and/or as an auditor of large/medium-sized companies. Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience with preparing statutory accounts, determining accounting treatment of transactions and preparing disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
• Strong technical accounting skills, financial understanding, analytical abilities and base business law knowledge or experience in order to be able to identify compliance risks
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, being able to work with both senior management and employees in a large organisation
• Ability to work in a challenging and fast paced environment dealing with a lot of different tasks at the same time and managing deadlines along the way
• A can-do, problem-solving attitude to find the answers to see things through to completion in situations where you do not have all relevant information
• Experience with SAP and ERP system implementation is preferred but not required
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Danish is not required but advantageous for reading correspondence from authorities
