Do you want to make the world a better place for vulnerable children and play a central role in the continued development of the grants and financial management in SOS Children's Villages Denmark in close collaboration with international partners?
SOS Children's Villages Denmark is one of Denmarks largest privately funded child rights organizations and operate in more than 136 countries. In Denmark, the turnover is more than 300 mDKK and we are around 50 FTEs in the office. Revenue has been increasing in the recent years and we have a growth strategy, which gives us the opportunity to make a difference for vulnerable children all over the world.
This requires new and greater demands in financial management and compliance, including processes, follow-up and reporting. Therefore, we are teaming up and are looking for a strongly skilled controller to perform financial and business controlling on our international project grants.
The role
As our new colleague, you will have a multifunctional role being part of both the Finance department and the International Programme Division leading all finance and grant management in relation to all our biggest donors; private, corporate and public. You will join a dynamic and dedicated team with high work spirit and ethics in an informal and positive work environment. We are 4 employees in the Finance department and the International Programme Division consists of 6 employees.
You will be reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Controlling and be a trusted sparring partner in the organization also being able to build good working relations in Denmark and with our cross borders partners, primarily in Asia and East Africa.
The main responsibilities will be;
- Ensuring that contractual obligations are met in terms of finance and administrative requirements, also according to different donor rules and procedures.
- Preparing procedures and documentation for the international finance and grant management.
- Supporting the implementation of a new ERP-system in SOS Children's Villages Denmark, focusing on the grant management.
- Supervision and capacity building for our partners, both in Denmark and in the globally, mainly in our 7 priority countries in East Africa and Asia.
- Supporting the International Department with financial management, project budgets and follow up.
- Participating in financial analysis and controlling projects.
- Assisting our Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks.
- Controlling and monitoring of our partners abroad requiring a approximately 3 weeks of travelling per year.
Your profile and qualifications
To succeed as our Project- and Grant Controller, we expect you to be able to work in a structured, however, pragmatic manner, enabling you to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. With a positive proactive attitude and sense of service, you are able to handle daily tasks and challenges in a from time-to-time hectic environment.
You are confident with excel and look to improve current processes finding energy in solving problems. In addition, you are motived to be the focal point to strengthen the competencies of your colleagues, when it comes to financial management and administrative structures.
In addition, we expect the following:
- Relevant education, e.g., M.Sc in Economics, B.Sc. in Business Administration HD(R) or similar.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in Danish and English, written and verbal.
Furthermore, it is considered positive, if you have:
- Work experience from a humanitarian/development organization and/or from donor administration in similar position.
- Experience with administrative and financial procedures and documentation.
- Experience with modern ERP-systems is an advantage.

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with experience and the collective agreement between SOS Children Villages, Denmark and AC-organizations. You will also be included in our pension and health insurance scheme partly paid by us.
