About the department

The position is in the department Cultivation Pilot Plants and part of CMC API Pilots. CMC API Pilots is a part of the R&D organisation, that manufactures and controls new drug substance candidates for the development portfolio at Novo Nordisk.

Cultivation Pilot Plants is a department that cultivates and purifies proteins and peptides, under GMP, for use in clinical and non-clinical trials. The department consists of two separate production facilities with four production lines as well as two cell bank facilities. You will join approx. 80 colleagues working in different teams (cultivation, recovery, support and cell bank teams). In the department we are working with various technologies and equipment dependant on whether the platform is yeast, E. coli or mammalian cells and how the recovery process is designed (i.e. homogenisation, centrifugation, filtration, chromatography etc.).

The department is located in Bagsværd, Copenhagen, Denmark.

The job

Your main responsibility will be taking on cleaning study activities in Cultivation Pilot Plants such as cleanability, recovery and degradation/inactivation studies - this includes:

Designing, supporting and reporting the implementation of cleaning validation plans and ensuring continued cleaning verification
Supporting daily cleaning processes and conducting troubleshooting/problem-solving in the pilot plants
using your scientific knowledge to identify optimization initiatives that can contribute to a continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes and facility
training colleagues and contributing to sharing your expertise in cross-functional groups

Qualifications
You hold a degree, Masters or PhD, within Cell science/technology, Biochemical Engineering or Chemical Engineering combined with solid knowledge within protein chemistry. Ideally, you have worked as Chemist or Development Scientist in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry and have solid experience with protein chemistry and cleaning (cleanability, recovery and degradation/inactivation studies). The job requires a scientific approach as well as a deep interest in understanding production processes.
