ActionAid Denmark (AADK) is a growing and ambitious organization with a team of dedicated professionals, who are consistently working on creating change in 45 countries throughout the world and addressing the structural causes of poverty and inequality. AADK is member of ActionAid International and our tax justice activities are carried out in close coordination with other ActionAid affiliates.
The position is based in the Policy Lab, a small team dedicated to policy advocacy in the nexus between international and national advocacy. The position has a cross reference to the International Policy and Program team.
Our new Tax Policy and Program Manager
You will lead AADK global advocacy program on Tax and Gender Responsive Public Services (GRPS). The position is representing AADK in ActionAid International’s Tax Working Group through which contributions to global and regional (including the EU) advocacy is carried out. Most of the ActionAid Tax programme and budget is carried out by the ActionAid International Tax Lead.
You will provide expert tax advice and support to relevant country programs and will be directly engaged in advocacy towards global and regional institutions and stakeholders. You will mainly navigate in two areas:
Global tax program and international advocacy:
Advocacy:
- Contribute to advocacy strategies, planning and implementation, including facilitating partners advocacy and representation, targeting international institutions and stakeholders like the UN, World Bank, IMF, EU, OECD.
- Represent AAI and AADK in international networks and institutions.
- Participate and contribute to relevant seminars, conferences and public debates on tax and development.
- Engage in direct communication and advocacy with policy makers and other stakeholders.
Programme management and development:
- Lead the continued strategic development of the tax component of the AADK GRPS & Tax program.
- Quality assurance of programming, budgeting and reporting from ActionAid International (AAI) Tax Lead to AADK.
- Manage, in close coordination with the AAI Tax Lead, two regional tax advisors
Cooperation and strategy:
- Support the leader of the AAI Tax Working Group with technical inputs, contributing to the strategic direction of the group, co-organising workshops, meetings and events.
- Provide policy and technical inputs to the Global tax program component.
- Policy and Technical Support to national tax programs
- Directly support country level Tax program activities based on requests from AA countries.
- Participate in relevant meetings and reviews concerning national GRPS & Tax policy and programs issues.
The job requires that you:
- Possess strong policy advocacy skills and experience from policy advocacy processes, preferably international advocacy.
- Have experience with program- and project cycle management including budget responsibility
- You can create a solid overview of complex subject matters and organizational structures and strategic priorities.
- You can communicate very specific and in-depth thematic information to partners and persons with different professional backgrounds creating insight and support.
- Have a relevant academic degree.
In addition you have;
- Excellent communication, coordination as well as networking skills.
- Strong intercultural understanding and diplomacy ensuring your ability to build confidence and trust with relevant partners.
- Experience navigating in complex settings.
- A preference for informal work environment with committed professionals and room for humor and laughter.
You should expect 40 travel days per year.

First round of Interviews is expected to be conducted on October 23rd and second round October 28th. Should you be selected for a second round, the interview process will include an assignment.
