This role reports to EL Utility Inside Sales Manager and is located in Cary, North Carolina. As an Electrification Utility Inside Sales Specialist (Remote Sales Professional), you are responsible for the development and implementation of proactive programs responding to customer requirements, assisting in achieving equitable solutions as well as the co-ordination of investigations of complaints. The overall mission of the Inside Sales Organization is to provide a consistent base for support as measured by internal and external customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities


  • Responsible for the execution of daily customer activities including order entry, tracking order management with local business units and other ABB groups.
  • Timely response to customers inquiries with appropriate ABB solution, quantify and resolve customer complaints and needs.
  • Utilize ABB‘s tools and processes including product configuration tools, order entry and business systems.
  • Responsible for coordinating activities with local business units to track orders and assure on-time customer delivery.
  • Coordinate input from local business units and other ABB groups to ensure bid proposals meet to customer requirements.
  • Simultaneously process information on multiple and varied projects and respond effectively to changes in priorities.
  • Attend meetings to exchange information and analyze contract requirements and participate in investigating technical problems and establishing procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
  • Duties may require domestic or international travel to customer location or ABB site.
  • Initiate change orders and expedite collection of overdue invoices.
  • May require periodic customer reporting for outstanding orders, Vendor Managed Inventory or Blanket Order management.

Your background


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business or related field with a minimum 3 years of technical customer support experience in the Industrial, Utility or related fields and alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
  • General knowledge of power transmission & distribution products/systems preferred.
  • Previous experience with business to business customer support preferred.
  • Must have knowledge and skill in utilization of computer databases.
  • Combination of education and experience demonstrating ability for more complex assignment and/or promotable within the power product/systems sales organization.
