This role reports to the Industry & Account Management Manager and is located in Houston, Texas. As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for passionately building strong relationships and serve as advocates for key strategic global customer accounts that rely on or will come to rely on Industrial Automation Measurement & Analytics (IAMA) products and service.

This role reports to the Industry & Account Management Manager and is located in Houston, Texas. As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for passionately building strong relationships and serve as advocates for key strategic global customer accounts that rely on or will come to rely on Industrial Automation Measurement & Analytics (IAMA) products and service.
Your responsibilities
- Must be able to communicate both the ‘big picture’ and the ‘little details’ to a widespread virtual team, motivate them to action, and manage their activities (without the benefit of direct report relationships).
- Develop new business from existing accounts while identifying potentially new accounts.
- Seeks to deeply understand account needs relative to product, service and commercial transactions (how they buy).
- Understands business drivers in the industry, develops and executes sales strategies (short, mid, long term) to drive growth.
- Develop plan for assigned accounts including internal and external communication, coverage, identification and prioritization of growth initiatives and strategically positioning the IAMA product portfolio according to identified customer needs.
- Will be the focal point and key contact for assigned accounts in congruence with the account plan and strategy.
- Will be intimately familiar with the assigned accounts including, their digital strategy, how they buy, what they buy, what they don’t buy from ABB and why, major project opportunities, pains points in product and service, who are the decision makers.
- Listening very carefully to the customer to understand their needs then articulating those needs to the many supporting resources within ABB, arriving at a resolution plan and taking full accountability for closure.
- Reporting assigned account status on a monthly cadence.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration or technical field with minimum 9 years of related experience.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in account management/sales pursuit and capture in the Instrumentation and Analytical Measurement industry.
- Exceptional analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Deep passion for customer service and satisfaction coupled with a strong drive to pursue and close sales opportunities.
