About the department

You will be joining 40 dedicated colleagues in the Device Manufacturing Development, Components department in Hillerød. In the Metal & Electronics processing team we are an exclusive group of 9 process engineers with responsibility for all metal components and electronic modules used for the entire Novo Nordisk medical device portfolio.

In close collaboration with our suppliers and strategic partners, we establish the manufacturing processes that transfers the designs into actual products for our patients, bridging the gap between development departments and the production lines.

The position

As Manufacturing Process Engineer the discipline of establishing new metal component production does not only requires high level of technical manufacturing process competencies but also strong collaboration skills are needed. As such it is crucial to build and maintain excellent relationships with your key stakeholders from component designers to the final delivery of components from our suppliers locally and internationally.

In the early device project phases, you will take part in evaluating the component manufacturing feasibility - Design for Manufacturing, DFM - in close collaboration with Device R&D, internal assembly production teams and the suppliers.

You will be responsible for introducing new suppliers and sub-contractors to Novo Nordisk, ensuring that component design specifications are understood and correctly translated into production specifications. You will also be implementing changes to existing metal components for our already marketed products.

To ensure the safety of the patients using our medical devices, component manufacturing processes and equipment must be qualified and validated to ensure, that they comply with applicable quality standards.

In case of technical or quality issues you will take lead, as our teams act as first point of contact. You will continuously challenge existing set-up to the benefit for the business with respect to quality-cost-delivery.

Travel activities in both US, Europe and Asia must be anticipated based on supplier locations. Level approx. 30 days per year.

Qualifications

As a minimum you hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and preferably you have at least 5 years of experience with production of components from similar positions i.e. from the medical device industry knowing your way around the many requirements within regulated production setups, but if not, you will receive the needed training.

Hands-on experience would make it easier for you to discuss process details with our suppliers and stakeholders.

You have an outgoing personality, and your communication style makes it easy for you to establish and maintain trustful relationships across a diverse organization, where many people have backgrounds very different from yours. You are great at engaging and managing stakeholders, and your direction-setting initiative is rivaled only by your ability to follow through and your keen appreciation of quality. You enjoy sharing your knowledge, providing support for your colleagues when they need it.

Since you will be working with international business partners, it is mandatory that you are technically proficient in English, in speech as well as in writing. If you understand Danish, your job will probably be easier, but it is not a requirement.
