The role in summary

The Senior Cloud Engineer role within Cloud Operations is focused on Continuous Service Improvement and enhancement of PaaS resources through modern DevOps practices. You will be responsible for driving automation, removal of manual processes and ensuring that the team is able to support and securely operate all technologies deployed within Maersk’s cloud platforms.
You will also act as L4 support to our BAU support teams for deployed PaaS resources.
The Maersk Cloud Operations team operate an agile methodology with sprints and backlogs. We’re developing and managing modern service offerings using modern technology to enable our business to go all the way.
You will need to keep abreast of all new Azure and AWS updates and services., ensuring that these can be managed and supported by the team.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring that any updates or additions to the Azure and AWS PaaS platforms can be onboarded to the Operations team.
  
  
• Ensuring that SOP’s and knowledge articles exist for all deployed technologies.
  
  
• Provide consultancy and advise on best practices for PaaS offerings.
  
  
• Working with the product teams to understand their pain points and create solutions to enable developer productivity and reduce time to market.
  
  
• Ensure that solutions are supportable in a scalable way without significant human intervention.
  
  
• Responsible for the availability and performance of solutions hosted in Azure and AWS
  
  
• Develop custom dashboards and alerts for cloud based systems
  
  
• Automate the deployment of new components using tools such as Terraform, ARM & Bicep templates and Powershell
  
  
• Maintain a wide depth and breadth of PaaS and IaaS knowledge across the Azure and AWS estate.
  
  
• Document, communicate and log follow up actions for later triage, prioritisation and action to avoid reoccurrences.
  
  
• Manage Azure Devops Build and release pipelines
  
  
• Review and improve existing infrastructure as code pipelines.
  
  
• Maintain awareness of the forward schedule of change and changes actively in play or recently completed such that this awareness can be leveraged in the event of an incident occurring on the same or impacted platforms.
  
  
• Assist in the creation of high quality documentation in accordance to the organisation’s standards
  
  
• Carry out risk assessment and reporting.
  
  
• Serve as an Incident Management escalation point when called upon.
  
  

We are looking for

• 5 years demonstrable expertise in Azure PaaS & IaaS components including security
  
  
• 2+ years working within a Devops team using agile frameworks.
  
  
• 5+ years demonstrable IT Infrastructure knowledge across a wide range of technologies.
  
  
• 3+years Powershell scripting
  
  
• 3+ years experience working with incidents in a mission critical environment.
  
  
• 3+ years working knowledge and experience of 3rd line support
  
  
• 3+ years hands-on experience working with service management tools like ServiceNow, BMC etc.
