We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our Cloud and Enterprise Service Engineering team as the Director of Public Cloud. As a key member of our leadership team and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our cloud platform at Maersk.Director of Public Cloud - UK or Denmark (Hybrid)

As the Director of Public Cloud, you will be a linchpin in our Cloud and Enterprise Service Engineering leadership team, focusing on solution Engineering, Engineering excellence at scale, and Leadership of Global engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

As the Director of Public Cloud, you will orchestrate a symphony of innovation and operational brilliance:

• Own the Engineering backlog, roadmaps, delivery, and optimization, ensuring a seamless alignment with our future-forward objectives.
• Propel transformational endeavours from ideation to delivery, epitomizing thought leadership in the realm of public cloud.
• Lead multiple teams within the Public Cloud estate, ranging from Cloud Customer Onboarding to the Cloud Operation team, fostering clear objectives, customer feedback loops, and unwavering commitment to promises.
• Pioneer stakeholder engagement strategies that transcend excellence, continuously enhancing our deliverables.
• Infuse high-level technical prowess into customer relationships, cultivating a service-focused engineering environment.
• Collaborate harmoniously with peers to propel product enhancements and roadmaps that catalyse cloud adoption.
• Champion the recruitment and development of top-tier leaders and engineers, instilling morale, and cohesion across diverse teams.
• Revolutionize our cloud infrastructure through strategic investments in Automation and Orchestration, elevating standardization to new heights.
• Engineer solutions that embody speed, scalability, and reusability, ensuring an architecture optimized for the future.
• Instil lean thinking across teams, eradicating process waste and streamlining the entire lifecycle.
• Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, delivering transformative outcomes that resonate with business stakeholders.
• Exercise fiscal acumen by forecasting requirements, formulating budgets, analysing variances, and implementing corrective actions.

What You'll Do

• Manage and expand the core Cloud solution engineering and Operations teams to deliver world class cloud experience for our customers.
• Create and inspire new stacks that will shape the future cloud platform of Maersk.
• Hire and develop high quality engineering leaders while strengthening morale and cohesion across the teams
• Provide high-level technical contributions to customer relationships and foster service-focused engineering environment.
• Ensure Solution Architecture is built around evergreen services with high degree of automation.
• Work with hyperscalers like Azure, AWS, GCP on contributing to their product backlog to cater for our industry needs.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the key drivers and opportunities within the business
• Handle priorities and clearly communicate expectations to department heads and the executive team
• Provide comprehensive leadership collaborating with a variety of team members including working cross-functionally with the broader technology team at Maersk to drive common platforms and new services
• Collaborate with other Engineering Directors on interdependencies and best-practices
• Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

Who You Are

• Proven background leading experienced development and/or operation teams delivering high-performance; highly available and resilient applications and infrastructures.
• Solid technical background, with hands-on experience in automated; agile environments delivering infrastructure; monitoring, and tooling to a complex on-prem and multi-cloud ecosystem.
• A track record of delivering infrastructure and supporting services utilizing best practices to enable reliability, scalability, and flexibility.
• A strong passion for development in the infrastructure space
• Led teams through fast-paced development cycles; committed to automation, agile, lean-startup, and continuous delivery approach.
• Able to work across organizational boundaries and matrixed reporting structures.
• Ability to fully understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insights, and translate requirements into actionable analysis.
• Able to present and communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by excellent written and oral communication.
• Exhibit a strong work ethic and technical thought leadership.
