Where do you come in?
As a Software Developer you will work with the VIKING Safety Academy portals, which serves training needs for both internal and external resources. Consisting of a legacy Php based training CMS, a Java based learning management system, and a Java / xAPI based learning record store / training player.

The VIKING Academy is VIKING's training division. Here, employees from all over the world come to complete courses to advance their careers in the VIKING group.

You will be part of a team of 4 colleagues who all have great knowledge in the IT field. All are based at the VIKINGs headquarter in Esbjerg.

Primary tasks and responsibilities

  • Understand several programming languages. Java and TypeScript is strongly prefered, others considered a plus
  • Be accustomed to using the command line
  • Have some experience in programming for the web
  • Have knowlegde of web technologies related to: html5/css, JSON, REST, SPA, databases etc.
  • Have an eye towards quality and security
  • Have a desire to learn

As English is our corporate language, you will be expected to speak and write fluently in English. Knowledge of Danish is an added advantage, but not mandatory.

You communicate freely on all organizational levels and always make an extra effort when deadlines are tight. You are independent and have a positive and results-oriented attitude, thriving in a busy environment where cooperation is a must. You are a team player.

Furthermore, it’s an advantage - but not a requirement, if you have experience with the following:

  • Nice to have: writing backend in Java
  • Nice to have: Frontend with Angular
  • Nice to have: SQL and MongoDB queries
  • Nice to have: Automated tests
