Shade is a tech and design startup company founded in Copenhagen in 2015 by two engineers who
had the vision to revolutionize the way people interact with artificial lighting.
Since its inception, Shade has grown to a team of 10 employees. Our team of accomplished software
and hardware engineers, product designer, business administrators, and marketing managers all work
towards our common goal: To improve the way that we light our homes.
Help create the next generation of intelligent lights! As our new Software Development Manager, you
will manage and participate in the development of Firmware and Apps for Shade’s lighting solutions
to enable new lighting models, give users better control of the light and integrate Shade’s solutions to
well-known home automation platforms. Our Software Team consist of an employed Software Developer,
occasional consultants and you!
You are a curious, self-motivated person who thrives in a small team where you like to plan the work,
keep track of progress, collaborate and put in your independent effort to complete the projects. You
have a few years of experience in managing small teams or projects and you can balance between
managerial tasks and coding tasks. You are an all-round developer and like to learn new things, study
vendor documentation and interact with others to realize the potential of the solutions we make. You
are technology oriented and you have tinkered with electronics and you talk easily with our hardware
developers.
You must have experience with the following:
• Embedded Software Development
• Firmware written in C incl. Device Drivers
• Event driven programming
• Low Power Devices
• App development on iOS and Android
• Native development in Swift and Java respectively
• Managerial tasks
• Being a leader for Software Developers and guide their direction
• Planning and keeping track of small projects
• We are using Scrum – we expect you to be experienced
• We use Azure DevOps – a plus if you have experience
Ideally you have also worked with:
• Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth Mesh and Lighting Profile
• Integration towards IFTTT, Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant etc.
• ZigBee and solutions using this e.g. Phillips Hue or IKEA Trådfri
• Nordic Semiconductor’s IoT chipsets
