Are you looking to apply your data science skills in a new context? Do you want a life changing career where your improvements have large impact and help patients fight chronic diseases? Do you want to be part of a new and growing team?

Then the position as Data Scientist in our Manufacturing Intelligence team will be something for you.

About the department and the manufacturing setting

As part of our commitment to fight chronic diseases, we are looking to increase the efficiency and yield of our manufacturing of drug delivery devices. In our new and growing team, we help each manufacturing line pursue these ambitious targets by enabling data-informed decision making and implementing machine learning models to automate previously tedious tasks and enable hitherto unseen optimisations.

Our team consists of process experts that are intimately familiar with our manufacturing processes, data engineers that help make data from manufacturing lines available, data scientists that mould the data into insights, and project managers that coordinate the efforts. We work together with experts at manufacturing sites to understand processes, data, and challenges before solving and implementing data-informed improvements.

Manufacturing is a relatively new domain for applied data science, and it offers some unique and difficult challenges. However, even a small improvement of a few percent to a manufacturing line can mean millions in saved costs and, more importantly, millions of additional devices to help patients worldwide combat Diabetes and other chronic diseases. Everyone in our team is super excited about applying their knowledge to the domain of manufacturing.

Together with more than 100 manufacturing lines, we aim to build scalable platforms for extracting, transforming, and storing data along with tools for utilising and visualising the data. For instance, we are aiming to build a platform for automatic optimisation of manufacturing line settings. This is a difficult project involving IoT technologies, Gaussian Processes Regression, and extensive AB testing.

The position

As Data Scientist in our Manufacturing Intelligence team, you will be responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts and our data engineers to define and create data models for future data gathering as well as developing pipelines for cleaning, combining, and transforming existing data. You will also be responsible for applying machine learning and multivariate statistics to solve tough problems and optimise manufacturing line efficiency. Furthermore, you will also visualise and communicate our results as well as helping us educate the organisation and create enthusiasm for data science. If you are interested in DevOps then, together with our data engineers, you could be responsible for developing the pipeline for deploying machine learning models to production at the edge, i.e. the manufacturing lines, and in the cloud.

While in the role, you can expect to grow your knowledge of manufacturing and process engineering. You will get to work with some pretty cool machinery, and you will engage with people from across the organisation. As we are relatively new team, you will have a large say in the choice of which tools we will use and will have a large fingerprint on the platforms we develop.

Qualifications

We are looking for both experienced candidates who are ready to take extra responsibility in shaping the platforms we develop and candidates with less experience to help us execute our data science projects. So, whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced Data Scientist, we would like to hear from you.

You have a background, educational and/or work, in Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science/Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics or similar and have experience, academic or industry, with some, but not necessarily all, of the following:

  • Multivariate statistics and a deep understanding of methods for classification, clustering, dimensionality reduction, and regression
  • Scripting with Python, Java, or others
  • Visualisation and communication of complex data and statistics
  • Visualisation and dashboard tools such as Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, or similar
  • Utilising cloud services such as Sagemaker, EC2, S3 etc.
  • Exposure to DevOps, Docker, ML model pipelines, and continuous deployment is a plus
  • Exposure to IoT technology is a plus

We expect our candidates to be good at what they do, have a burning desire to learn new things, and willing to take up the challenge of building something from scratch. You listen and thrive in a culturally diverse environment.
As we are a global company and an international team, fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Danish proficiency is a plus

but is not required.
