Working in a highly focused and skilled Engineering Team you will serve as a Scrum Master. Here at Maersk the Scrum Master role involves understanding the agile processes, partnering with Product Owner/Client leadership teams, and working with the delivery team, supporting and guiding them to ensure value is released on a regular cadence.
This means that you will ensure the organisation, team and individuals understand and live by agile values. YOU champion the agile and scrum process , YOU teach and coach the team how to use scrum and agile methods to improve value for business outcomes.
As a professional Scrum Master you straightforwardly coach your team to be effective at facilitating the scrum events and how they best approach and resolve impediments. It is your role to help the team stay motivated and support the team’s commitment to the definition of done.
Conflict resolution, relationship and stakeholder management are all part of this important role; and you will support the organisation by providing training, coaching and leadership around agile adoption and practices. You help stakeholders understand and enact an empirical approach for complex work.

The most critical tasks for our Scrum Master are:
• Understanding the agile processes, partnering with the Product Owner, and working with the team to successfully deliver.
• Coaching other Scrum Masters, team members and the wider organisation on Agile principles, values and practices.
• Supporting the Product Owner to refine and prioritize the backlog.
• Collaboration with other scrum masters, developers, architects, designers, UX experts, external agencies, partners and key people in the business. Helping to drive engagement with stakeholders.
• Driving agility and quality to ensure the team delivers the right quality product. Assisting the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done.
• Teaching, mentoring and coaching Senior Stakeholders on Scrum and Agile at scale methods and processes.
• Guiding the team in establishing normalized estimates and helping the team understand how to estimate
• Actively participating in the Scrum Master/Agile community, sharing and re-applying skills.
• Collaborating to identify and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies.
• Coaching and mentoring the teams to become more self-organized and effective at facilitating their daily stand ups, sprint planning meetings, backlog refinement, retrospective meetings and sprint demos.
• Shielding sprint teams from outside distractions and unintended dependencies and interference.
• Coaching and mentoring the teams to become more self-organised by helping them with how they best remove impediments in a timely manner.
• Communicating with other teams and management on progress and dependency handling and ensure the transparency of the team.
• Supporting the recruitment of team members across the department. Identifying training needs and providing coaching/mentoring.

As a successful Scrum Master today, your key skills include:
• Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices.
• Experience working in a large technical Platform environment
• Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and frameworks like Kanban, Scrum, XP etc.
• Solid written and concise verbal communication skills and able to articulate technical complexity to be understood by both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Proven influencing, coaching and mentoring experience.
• Ability or proven experience in being effective at coaching the teams how to remove impediments.
• Ability to coach the teams to become self-organised and effective at facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint retrospective, daily stand ups and other agile sessions.
• Experience of working with multi-location teams.
• Ability to lead the team efforts in relentless improvement. Helping the team improving and taking responsibility for their actions. Teaches problem-solving techniques and helps the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities.
• Able to provide constructive feedback.

• Conflict resolution and strong negotiating skills. Focused on scrum values of openness and respect.
• Lead by setting a good example and engage the team to achieve goals including mentoring junior staff.
