The Scrum Master ensures the organisation, team and individuals understand and live by agile values. They champion the agile and scrum process , they teach and coach the team how to use scrum and agile methods to improve value for business outcomes.
The Scrum Master coaches the team to be effective at facilitating the scrum events and how they best approach and resolve impediments. They help the team stay motivated and support the team’s commitment to the definition of done.
The Scrum Master helps to resolve team conflicts, when needed. They will have strong communication and relationship/stakeholder management skills.
The Scrum Master supports the organisation by providing training, coaching and leadership around agile adoption and practices. They help stakeholders understand and enact an empirical approach for complex work.Senior Agile Practitioner / Scrum Master

Working with 1 or 2 teams you will be pushing them to continuously improve their approaches using well established methods and techniques and will share the learnings from this with those in the agile community. Key Responsibilities & Skills
Method & Practice Agility
- Applies, coaches and mentors agile frameworks, techniques and practices at team level.
- Is able to help the team decide on the most appropriate agile frameworks, techniques and practices for their environment.
- Can apply a range of facilitation techniques to help your team(s) resolve problems and issues.
- Adapts techniques to build sessions for agile events tailored to allow different teams to get maximum value.
- Helps the Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items and how these relate to the work being done.
- Helps find techniques for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management.
- Helps establish empirical product planning for a complex environment.
- Contributes to the Agile and Scrum Community of Practice either by organising events or by adding to the agile knowledge base.
Agile Principles and Methods
- Lives by agile principles and values, e.g. the Agile Manifesto, is demonstrated through behaviours.
- Able to utilise an agile framework to support continuous improvement.
- Understands the importance to optimize flow over utilization.
- Makes use of appropriate agile insight/metrics to support the team.
- Keeps abreast of the latest trends around agile techniques and practices, this could be achieved through attending the Agile and Scrum Community of Practice events.

- Can apply and adapt different innovative methods depending on the situation.
- Identifies potential opportunities and creates experiments within your team(s).
- Exhibits a growth mindset, always willing to learn and try new things.
Coaching Techniques and Practices
- Able to coach and mentor individuals within own team and other teams.
- Builds rapport and use empathy effectively.
- Able to facilitate team coaching sessions.
- Uses a range of coaching techniques, such as the GROW model.
- Effective in teaching soft skills including mindset and culture.
- Able to create appropriate training materials to support soft skills training including mindset and culture.
Relationship management
- Is effective at building relationships and connecting the right people together at platform level, enabling them to target and improve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Enabling and supporting change within your platform through strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Uses active listening to build and enhance relationships and to support effective communication.
- Able to mediate conflict at platform level.
- Able to provide constructive feedback.
Enterprise Agile
- Apply empiricism through the three pillars of transparency, inspection and adaption to reduce and waste across the organisation.
- Identifies opportunities and builds hypotheses and experiments to test product changes which can exploit changing market conditions.
- Understands who your customers are, how your products support them and how the work you are doing impacts them.
Additional desirable skills or knowledge
- Experience of working with multi-location teams.
- Experience working in a large technical environment
- Proven experience and understanding of agile tooling such as Jira and Confluence
- At least 5 years of working IT experience and managing Scrum teams
- (Desirable) Previous experience working in Software development, API and Integration
- (Desirable) Experience with microservices architecture: REST, Graph QL, APIgee or other API platform.
- (Desirable) Platform and technologies: Apache Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka, Docker, kubernetes
- (Desirable) Cloud technologies: Azure, AWS.
