The Role of the Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer within our Container Runtime - Core, you will be a driver and doer in a fundamental shift in how we run container infrastructure in the cloud.
You will work and collaborate with your team to deliver highly scalable and reliable product. You will contribute to a daily backlog of tasks to create new features, resolve bugs, or help run the product in more resilient way.
As a part of the Container Runtime – Core team you will be responsible for the infrastructure in all cloud locations to support modern software development and deployment. You will drive standardization and quality though automation. The team is responsible for delivering a reliable, scalable container runtime based on Kubernetes that is used to deliver key applications for Maersk.com along with hundreds of other key business applications.
As a Software Engineer, you will demonstrate the following characteristics: -
- You are creative and come up with innovative approaches to projects and any issues that arise.
- You are a “do’er”. You get things done.
- Sharing expertise and insight with other engineers.
The ideal candidate has background in application development using Spring Boot. We are looking for software engineers with a desire to jump into the infrastructure world. Familiarity with the following tool chains is a plus:
- Development - Git and Github, Github Actions
- Backend – APIs and Microservices, Java or another programming language
Key Responsibilities
- Help build and operate a large number of Kubernetes clusters in a variety of cloud locations
- Focus on automation to bring speed, quality, and reliability to platform delivery
- Participate in daily Agile routines
- Participate in proof-of-concept activities
- Contribute to documentation and team routines
Key Skills
- Experience using cloud resources (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience using open-source technologies (Kubernetes)
- Experience in Java / Kotlin Spring Boot or programming in other OOP language. Golang a plus.
- Experience writing test suites
- Excellent communication skills, solid work ethic, and a strong desire to write production quality code.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by excellent written and oral communication
- Demonstrable high levels of integrity
