The Position As a Lead Data Engineer in AIDR you will be responsible for acting as a reliable advisor to provide technical expertise on the design, development, and deployment of data products within the scope of a scientific excellence or machine intelligence team, understanding some aspects of the science or algorithm whereas knowing all aspects of the software deployment, infrastructure, and process around the product. This role further provides some expertise in data handling and processing, machine learning operations, as well as data modelling for large scale biological, chemical or medical data and technical solutions associated. Key responsibilities:
  • Work closely with your colleagues within scientific expertise areas to support to drive business cases and efficiencies within analytics and other data driven use cases
  • Work closely with data scientists to understand and document business and data requirements, e.g. which platforms are needed, how data needs to be converted, loaded and presented.
  • Obtain relevant business and system knowledge to convert requirements efficiently to technical design documentation and conceptual data modelling
  • Facilitate the communication of these technical requirements to product teams for building, deploying, and maintaining digitals products or expand on existing
  • Perform data engineering tasks when needed – i.e. ingest data sets, help automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, etc.
  • Collaborate and engage with Novo Nordisk platform teams to identify, test and follow the implementation of best feasible tooling for future data requirements
  • Support teams orchestrating MLOps environments for research models for drug design and target discovery
  • The position will be based in either the United Kingdom (Oxford/London) or Denmark (Måløv). Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should hold:
  • Master’s Degree (PhD preferred but not required) preferably in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Chemoinformatic, Statistics, Math or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years solid experience working with development of applications or analytical methods in large scale research biological or chemistry data - both practical and theoretical
  • Experience with data ingestion, processing and preparation, including experience with large data sets and structured/unstructured data.
  • Experience in data operations around MLOps and automation
  • Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: SQL, Python, R
  • Experience in working with software and tools such as Spark, SQL DBs, AWS and Azure technologies, Hadoop, Databricks, Domino, Sagemaker

The department is anchored in the newly established Digital Science & Innovation (DSI) organization within Research & Early Development at Novo Nordisk.
