Roskilde

Are you motivated by working in a dynamic, start-up environment with colleagues that are dedicated and want to participate in developing energy management systems for a green future? Then you might be our new Senior Software Developer!

About you

You will be responsible for the specification, implementation, and development of embedded and high-level SW to our Nerve Switch® based Battery Systems.

You design the necessary functional levels of control operation and complement our hardware developers in the integration of your SW to our selected HW platform.

In agile brainstorming with our other software developers, you integrate your embedded software and realize a communication connection with our Cloud monitoring system, perform validation and verification testing, and make more mature software version ready for field tests and release implementation.

Your real-time data acquisition software will be interfaced with our cloud-based monitoring system for comprehensive data analysis and fault detection. You will be deeply involved in analysing and optimizing the control system of our Nerve Switch® technology, tweaking functional blocks and control loops towards a certified product. Finally, your contribution to the human-machine interface (HMI) is more than appreciated to create a user experience (UX) that brings the Nerve Switch® technology alive.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years professional experience in embedded and high-level SW software development and still eager for the latest insights.
  • Full stack knowledge will be seen as an advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge within control software design and programming.
  • Passion to design as well as analyse both functional levels and source code of control software around energy management or power electronics
  • Autonomous control software development including requirements, interpretation, design, manufacturing, debugging, documentation, and integration
  • Capabilities to create, execute and evaluate test procedures/reports to ensure functionality, performance, robustness, and safety of control software
  • Experience in human-machine interfaces (HMI) and user experience (UX) of predictive feedback control software
  • Advanced knowledge about (embedded) C and/or Python are an advantage since these are the systems current programming languages
  • Used to iterative design processes in an agile working environment for continuous progress, even under change requests
  • Fluent spoken and written command of the English language.
  • You are a team player.

One technology – multiple challenging applications

Working at Nerve Smart Systems ApS is not working in monotonous processes for months; in fact, you will be working on challenging projects and different aspects of the Nerve Switch® technology every week.

You might be tied up with analysing possible functional levels of control operation for the next-generation system in the beginning of the week, deeply involved in the implementation of a new sensor array or a different logic controller in the existing system design during the middle of the week and investigating the latest communication standard for the control software with respect to a specific customer request at the end of the week. Every day is truly different, but you can be assured that they altogether run like a golden thread through the development of the Nerve Switch® technology.

What we offer

  • Personal responsibilities in a supporting environment
  • Alternating tasks under a consistent objective
  • Informal, professional and fun working atmosphere
  • Working multidisciplinary on a high diversity of applications
  • Countless ways to develop yourself as a professional
  • Lunch with the whole team and now and then a good piece of cake

About Nerve Smart Systems

Nerve Smart Systems (NSS) has developed a unique way to control battery cells. In a traditional battery for energy storage, called BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), the individual cells are bound together in strings. The disadvantage of this is that it is the fastest degrading battery cell that determines the efficiency of the entire battery string, so if just one of the cells can only be charged 70%, it applies to the entire string. NSS has found the solution to this challenge through their Nerve Switch ™. This, in combination with NSS' proprietary software, means that the individual cells can be turned on or off as needed. A malfunctioning cell is therefore taken out of play until the other cells have reached the same level of wear and tear. With this method, the entire battery can be kept in balance without having to be taken out of service and makes it possible to make full use of each individual cell. It can be said that NSS technology is able to utilize the cells' "second life" during their "first life". This results in a significantly longer service life (20-30%) as well as greater efficiency compared to competing products, with several AC/DC conversions dropping out.

If you connect a High Power Charger (HPC) for fast charging of electric cars (EV) to our BESS, the technology has another great advantage. The ability to control the voltage by turning the individual battery cell on or off eliminates a large amount of power electronics, which are normally needed to ensure that the electric vehicle is charged at the correct voltage. Our software exchanges information with the electric car and turns on the required number of cells to be able to release the desired voltage.

Nerve Smart Systems is a company in rapid development, with an everyday life that offers many exciting challenges and tasks. We are a team of 11 employees, divided into R&D, Administration and Management. We are an international organization with an informal tone and a workplace with flexibility, where you have a strong influence on your own working life.
