Do you have an interest and understanding of grids for electrical power distribution and supply networks? Then you might be our new Power System Engineer. The purpose is to ensure continued compliance to grid requirements for our products all over the world.
The grid requirements are developing rapidly these years and tools like simulation are necessary to predict behaviour, influence and reactions to disturbances, so an interest for simulation of grid and product behaviour is important and a large part of the job.
The Job
Your primary task is to document through simulations /emulations that we fulfil different grid compliance requirements, design test setup and implementation strategy to ensure compliance and external approvals. The measurement and protection work will be in close cooperation with our team of specialists.
Investigation and selection of different algorithms for new protections/measurements/behaviour is also a vital part of the simulation task.
Your primary working task will include:
You will be part of our department “Platform Software & Tools” that consists of Test Developers, Software developers and Dev.Ops. The department is responsible for the development of platform software (low level SW, OS, HW drivers etc.) incl. all protection and measurement algorithms for products.
The person
You have an educational background with knowledge of 3-phase electricity and some knowledge of mechanical behaviour of engines. You may also have knowledge within SW development (C-code, Matlab, Simulink Electrical and similar) and/or generator control systems. We are using Omicron products in our test setup so some experience with these will be beneficial. Then we will ensure to teach you whatever needed.
You must be able to work independently and structure your work to reach goals in time, but always in relation to the rest of the project team.

Your primary working task will include:
- Close coordination with specialists and test-, software- and hardware- engineers as well as business area personnel
- Ensure compliance to grid codes by simulating new- and existing algorithms on dynamic power system models
- Validate new algorithms on various levels; theoretically, on a software level, signal injection level (Omicron) and in real physical test setups.
- Concept studies and development of power system and protection solutions within LV and MV generator controller and protection relays in both technology and product
- Specification, simulation, development and test of protection and control algorithms, software and products
- Grid code compliance analysis and development
- Cooperation with universities and other partners within power system and protection solutions
- Technology studies and projects within existing and new business areas
- Analysis and validation of partners and competitor products
