Our great colleague Steinar is moving back to Norway with his family, so we are looking for a software engineer or equivalent to join our team of experienced DevOps engineers.
”It’s a great job because you get to work with a range of advanced and innovative tools, in a team of experts on those tools. Your teammates are very professional and helpful, and create a good working environment, not least because of their great sense of humour.” says Steinar.
You will become a part our DevOps team, where we develop and maintain build configurations and build scripts to strengthen the deployment pipeline of multiple teams within the R&D department (approx. 450 people in DK). We also own and operate a growing machine park consisting of both physical and virtualized servers.
There are lots of interesting projects going on in our team, and one of the first projects you will join, is to help us migrate our VM workloads to containerization using Kubernetes.
We bring teams, code and product closer together
Our team mission is to bring teams, code and product closer together by being experts in Continuous Integration.
We support multiple teams within the R&D department. They write the code that ends up in the hearing aids, the code that tests their code and various tools assisting them in the process.
We write code that glues the development processes of these teams together. In other words, automate the process of using the output from “Team A’s build processes” and use it as input for “Team B’s build processes”. We mostly write code in Python but also Ansible scripts in a test-driven fashion.
“What makes working here so interesting, is that we have everything under one roof. There is a big focus on R&D. We do everything from R&D, to make our own chipset, firmware and hardware. We have our own production facilities, and our own sales organization. In short, you will have many interfaces throughout the organization, because what we do ties it all together” says Senior Manager Software Tools, Per Sandholm.
TeamCity is used as our CI/CD server. We generate build pipeline configurations using Python, based on configuration files located in various systems (such as git). Our TeamCity instance is one of the largest in the world, with tens of thousands of active build configurations and about several thousand daily builds.
We maintain a mix of Linux and Windows VMs and containerized applications, which are used as build agents. Many of these build agents have actual hearing aids physically attached, so we can deploy and test new software changes on real hardware.
Curious software engineer with great team working skills
You to have a degree in computer science or equivalent. You have a few years’ experience behind you and have in that time either gained experience with DevOps or gotten an interest for it. Either way, we are ready to develop your skills further.
We are also looking for the following competencies:
As a person, you would describe yourself as someone with well-developed communication and people skills. You like supporting others and get energy from being part of a team working together on a common goal. You enjoy leaving the code in a better place than you found it and are eager to share your knowledge.
“It’s important for us that we win, and lose, as a team. A part of what we do, is to try new things, and sometimes we fail, and that’s more than ok. The important thing is, that we learn from it, and become even better.” says Per
