Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your programming and data management skills to large amounts of real-world data on health and medicines used throughout the company? And are you ready to join a team of data scientists using advanced methods for analysing real-world data to improve people’s lives? Then this may be your opportunity to pursue and develop an exciting career in a global organisation.

About the department

The department of Data Analytics is part of Data Science located in Søborg, Denmark. The department was established in 2017 with a focus on real world data (RWD) and advanced analytics. In Data Analytics, we analyse many different data sources to generate evidence to support clinical drug development projects and launched products. You will be joining a team of highly professional, engaged and motivated data scientists.

Data Analytics is a part of the R&D area Global Development where we drive all clinical development of products based on proteins and peptides from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. We are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide, securing that the process lives up to global standards, regulations and business ethics. We work in global project teams with focus on delivering viable products that make a difference to patients and ultimately benefit society.

The position

As a Data Scientist you will experience a culture where collaboration, scientific discussions and a focus on quality is high on the agenda, and where creative thinking and daily problem solving is key to improve the way we work and succeed.

In this position you will contribute with your software engineering and data management skills in a team that, together with epidemiologists and stakeholders from across the organisation, create real world evidence from real world data from across the globe via in-licensed databases, observational studies and other data sources.

You will be responsible for writing, documenting and maintaining code in SQL, SAS, R or Python (also on Spark) in order to aggregate, standardise, document, visualise and continuously deliver analysis-ready data sets derived from millions of raw data points. Your duties will be diverse and will include driving the collection of stakeholder input on data transformations and creating the needed business rules to standardise data cleaning in a common data model. Part of the job is to continuously update your knowledge of formats and coding of data.

We are right now looking for Data Scientists on senior and specialist levels.

Qualifications

You have a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer science, Life sciences or equivalent and preferably a PhD degree in a field relevant for the position. You have around 3-5 years of experience from the pharmaceutical, medical or biological area, with managing, standardising, documenting and programming comprehensive data in preparation for data analysis.

You have experience transforming millions of rows of data by writing advanced, well performing and maintainable code in SQL, SAS, R or Python. You know how to get good performance from relational (and NOSQL) databases and preferably also Spark. Experience with database normalisation, git, Linux, R/Shiny, project coordination and technical writing is preferred. Some experience with OMOP OHDSI will be an advantage.

We emphasise accountability and reaching goals through a collaborative effort, thus it is essential that you can use your good interpersonal and communication skills to achieve results together with others. You enjoy responsibility and complete your assignments proactively and within timelines. Finally, you are able to communicate fluently in English, both in speech and writing.
