We are currently looking for an experienced, technically strong and result-oriented individual to lead our R&D Team at Competence Center Detection in Sønderborg, to further strengthen our operation of research and development within lighting control, sensors and detectors. You will take part in solving technical tasks and have tasks of more managerial character.
Job description
You will lead our innovative R&D Team that consists of 10 highly skilled and dedicated hardware and software engineers. As R&D Technical Lead, you will contribute to create a dynamic and positive work environment and encourage the team to be creative and innovative in the development of future lighting control and building automation, but at the same time keep the user in mind to ensure customer satisfaction. Besides being the R&D Technical Lead, you will work alongside with your team in solving these technical tasks.
As R&D Technical Lead, you will ensure the execution of development projects according to Niko’s strategy within the product portfolio. In that connection ensure that the team possess the necessary competencies in order to deliver the expected results. In addition, you will be responsible for:
You will be a part of the management group at the Competence Center Detectors and part of Niko Groups R&D management group.
Your working base will be in Sønderborg, and you will lead the R&D Team consisting of 10 very experienced and dedicated engineers and 1-2 student assistants. Moreover, you will collaborate with colleagues internally in the Niko Group and various people externally. You will refer to Niko’s VP R&D at the HQ in Belgium. You must be willing to do short business trips in Europe.
Background and skills
For this position, you hold a master’s degree in engineering combined with a commercial education. Furthermore, we expect you to have +5 years of experience working as leader within R&D in a similar position, preferably within the electronic business. In addition, you possess the following competencies:
On a personal level, you are a passionate developer who is always up to date in terms of new technology, market development, customers and competitors in the market. You have an action-oriented approach and is able to make the necessary priorities – alone and/or in close cooperation with your colleagues, but always with the business and commercial interest in mind. You are fluent in English and Danish.

As R&D Technical Lead, you will ensure the execution of development projects according to Niko’s strategy within the product portfolio. In that connection ensure that the team possess the necessary competencies in order to deliver the expected results. In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Day to day prioritization of projects and other tasks
- Competence mapping according to future product roadmap
- Evaluate, identify, develop and use relevant R&D tools, systems and infrastructure
- Lead exploration activities in terms of new technologies
- Compliant according to Niko Groups strategy within the product portfolio
- Responsible for product maintenance activities and support in solving quality cases
- Monitor the budget
- Be a part of a multi-disciplinary and international SCRUM team that takes ownership of designing and implementing our platform and its software
You will be a part of the management group at the Competence Center Detectors and part of Niko Groups R&D management group.
