Handicaphjælpere nær London. Starting July 2020 or January 2021.

Excellent Pay and Training provided.

What are you doing now or will you be doing in the future?

This advert is being placed assuming that the coronavirus restrictions will be lifted in both Denmark and the UK by July. This employer also wishes you and your family and friends a safe time and good health.

Come to the UK, explore nearby London and the country (with your employer, on your own or with a fellow carer), improve your English, enjoy our way of life, live in a safe environment, earn an excellent pay and benefit package and gain satisfaction from doing a worthwhile job.

I am a family man paralysed from the shoulders down. As I am totally dependent on others, I employ a minimum of 2 residential carers who enable me & my wife to live as normal life in the community as is possible.

I always employ at least 2 carers but prefer 3 or 4. My carers normally work for me for a year or six or seven months, mostly starting in July or January. I am almost always advertising, so you are welcome to apply at any time. Other start dates, or length of stay can sometimes be arranged.

My family and carers share two neighbouring houses about 50 km. or 30 minutes by train from the centre of London. There are lots to see and do both on and off duty.

I have employed over 80 Danes as my carers for the last 30 years and so can provide many references from previous carers. Many applicants have just graduated from gymnasium or HF and are often, but not exclusively, interested in healthcare careers (e.g. medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, midwifery, etc). Applications of any age, gender or ethnic origin are free to apply. They just must be patient, flexible and hard-working.

My carers work consists of caring for me, helping me in my office and looking after the house in which they live. I employ a gardener and do it yourself man to complete those sorts of tasks. My carers are normally contracted to work two days on and two days off. However, when I have 3 or more carers, I arrange alternative schedules. My carers mostly work with a colleague but have to be prepared and willing to work on their own.

The working environment is within a modern spacious house, when at home or quality hotels or at my mother’s home in Scotland. When at home each carer has their own bedroom and they share a bathroom, a kitchen and sometimes a sitting room. Free broadband wireless internet access is of course provided.

Berkhamsted, the historic prosperous market town where we live, has many amenities including a sports centre, fitness centres, lots of pubs and interesting shops. The local area is very pleasant, surrounded by nature, with a canal, castle remains and country walks in all directions. As you can imagine nearby London offers absolutely everything, endless markets, museums, shopping, parks, art galleries, etc, even a Danish Centre and two Handball Clubs.

We do try to travel to Scotland at least twice a year, where my wife and I have close family. Scotland offers its own unique culture and history, fantastic scenery and excellent shopping. In Scotland we normally stay at my mother’s house, which is only 20 minutes by train from the centre of Glasgow, with shopping that matches London. My mother’s house backs onto lovely countryside with lots of walking and exploring possibilities. Other travel opportunities can sometimes happen depending on our circumstances at the time, especially my health, so nothing can be guaranteed during any carers stay.

Prospective Applicants can learn more about this exciting opportunity by e-mailing: [email protected] for an Information Pack. If they would like even more information they can talk to my existing Danish Carers by telephoning +44-1442-871552.

Qualifications:

My carers must be healthy, patient, flexible, willing to learn and work hard and have a clean drivers licence with no accidents or convictions. They must also be non-smokers and speak some English.

No previous experience or qualification is required. Training in all aspects of the care routine and in driving in the UK are provided. My carers have had many reasons why they have chosen to care for me, although long-term ambitions in the healthcare professions are most common.

Applicants may wish to improve their English, take a year out in the UK & near London, improve their CV, gain points towards their education and/or gain experience in work which involves most of the healthcare professions, e.g. nurse, doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, midwife, etc. However, these healthcare ambitions are not essential, people with other career aspirations have enjoyed the experience and have gone on to become teachers, psychologists, business managers, graphic designers, etc.

Accommodation – Meals:

Quality Safe Accommodation & Quality Food are provided free.

Løn-Salary:

Quality food & safe accommodation are free. Pay is calculated by hours and days worked, normally my carers earn £230 per day before taxes. A typical month take-home pay after tax is approximately £2600. Many other benefits when on duty and, when possible, out with their employer including pub visits, meals out & cinema, day trips, etc. Trips out are dependent on the disabled person’s health and circumstances at the time and cannot be guaranteed.

Working Conditions:

All the best equipment is provided to help you care for your employer. The working environment is within a modern spacious house with many benefits in a picturesque area only 30 minutes by train from London.

Working Hours:

2 days on duty and 2 days off duty, although the work schedule can vary depending on how many carers I am employing at the time. My carers need to be flexible and committed to respond as needed.

Starting Date:

Selected applicants normally start work in July or January, but circumstances can change and if necessary and agreed applicants can start at other times.

Ansøgningsfrist/Last application date:

As soon as possible. Vacancies will be filled when good applicants have been found and been interviewed.

No of Vacanies:

This varies, but typically between two and four.

Employer Profile:

A totally dependent, wheelchair-bound, paralysed man living with his wife in the community.
