We are opening an exciting new role - Portfolio Vice President - Emerging Technologies (ET).
In this role you will set the strategic direction for the late phase development, launch and market production of pharmaceutical products.
You will have an opportunity to create a visible impact and utilise your excellent leadership skills to set the direction and maximise the portfolio value.
The position is based in Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. If you are in the USA, Boston or Boulder could be alternative base locations for this role. We welcome applications from international candidates, that are willing to relocate to Denmark. Frequent international travel to our global sites is required.
The Position
You will lead activities for a portfolio of projects focusing on manufacturability, scalability, facility readiness and effective life-cycle management. Your portfolio will be broad, and you will build and lead a diverse team of Project Directors based in Denmark and the USA, and possibly other countries. You will be part of the ET Portfolio Management leadership team together with other Portfolio Vice Presidents, and the Director for Business Integration, who is handling Mergers and Acquisitions for ET area.
Your responsibilities will include: Portfolio leadership and management of cross-functional activities for strategically important projects Driving project strategies in collaboration with stakeholders and bringing forward strategic recommendations to relevant Governance Boards Leading and developing a team of 5+ highly skilled ET Project Directors Serving as the ET representative in Global Project Teams, assuming accountability for all activities within the portfolio, either directly or indirectly through Project Directors Communicating, negotiating, and ensuring proper alignment with different internal and external stakeholders globally, including colleagues across the Novo Nordisk’s project organization, CMC Development, ET production sites, Contract Manufacturing Organisations and Regulatory Authorities Qualifications
We are looking for a highly experienced leader, who can drive the success of ET projects in global drug development context. To succeed in this role, you will have: A Master or PhD degree within a relevant field of scientific expertise such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Biology, or a Business degree combined with relevant pharma experience A significant people leadership or project management experience in R&D, Manufacturing Development or Product Supply A comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical value chain and life-cycle management, particularly the Product Supply value chain and drug development Extensive knowledge of quality standards in the pharmaceutical industry and global regulatory requirements Business planning skills and ability to combine technical knowledge with business acumen to find a sustainable solution On a personal level, you will bring: Excellent people, collaboration, and communication skills A strong ability to create and empower winning global teams. You are an experienced people leader, who knows how to coach and develop a remotely based team. Proactive, open-minded, and visible leadership style. You can define a vision and set a clear direction while solving and executing complex tasks A curious nature and high level of personal engagement. You thrive in a flexible, dynamic, and cross-functional collaborative environment. You enjoy working with unknown and look for new ways of solving problems Stakeholder management is a critical skill in the role, as you will be exposed to senior management and will be in the centre of decision making A strong strategic mindset, and ability to align business objectives and portfolio goals About the area
Emerging Technologies is a newly established area in Novo Nordisk and is responsible for our growing pipeline of new products. We are handling and setting the strategic direction for the product portfolio based on emerging technology platforms coming into Product Supply via internal development projects and externally acquired assets. Together with stakeholders across the organisation and our local ET project offices, we ensure successful execution of the portfolio from late phase development to launch and market production.

The ET area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT (PSQIT), which globally employ approximately 25,000 of Novo Nordisk’s more than 57,000 employees.
