Are you an experienced leader ready for an exciting senior leadership role establishing and leading our new Medical Science Innovation function into the future? Can you set strategic direction, and do you have an innovative mindset? Then you might be our new Corporate Vice President (CVP) of Medical Science Innovation in Clinical Drug Development (CDD). The Position You will be reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of CDD and be part of the SVP leadership team. The function you will be heading consists of 40+ highly skilled employees driving medical innovation and excellence across the drug development portfolio through the development and implementation of innovative and groundbreaking science-based approaches to diagnostics, precision medicine, clinical bio-sampling, trial designs, digital solutions and novel approaches to medical data analyses and evidence generation. You will set direction by defining, initiating, and implementing medical strategies and ensuring anchoring in the project areas. You will partner with key stakeholders in Novo Nordisk to ensure proper alignment with specific product development strategies and internal and external stakeholders. Bringing in external inspiration and influencing the external environment through thought leadership, via industry forums and by interacting directly with regulators and policy makers on clinical medical innovation, is also part of the role. You will be responsible for delivering credible scientific/medical input across the portfolio feeding into individual product development strategies. The position is placed in Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. If relevant, relocation support is part of the package. Qualifications You are an experienced leader with a strong clinical and/or research background, preferably holding an MD Degree and a PhD Degree, having solid experience from the pharmaceutical industry. Leading a newly established area requires strong organisational development skills, ability to set direction and collaborate across the Novo Nordisk value chain. An integrated part of this role is to create a learning environment for individuals and teams and to secure the development of top talents. Ability to support specialists and leaders to improve their current performance and future potential through providing coaching and development opportunities is also a requirement. As Novo Nordisk is growing in size and complexity, you need to be change-ready and able to handle shifting timelines, re-prioritisation, re-organisations and process improvement projects. Effective decision-making skills and ability to respond timely to the needs of the global organisation is crucial. Excellent communication skills are key, and you must be strong in addressing stakeholders at several organisational levels in different parts of the organisation with a wide span of competencies and disciplines, as well as across cultures globally. Finally, we expect you to have good awareness of your own strengths, limitations and development needs and the ability in applying these to optimise your own performance and relationships. About the department Medical Science Innovation is a newly established CVP area and part of Novo Nordisk Clinical Drug Development, located in Søborg, Copenhagen area, Denmark. The area is overall responsible for strengthening medical and scientific innovation across the clinical trial portfolio globally. The new area consists of three VP units: Precision Medicine, Biomarkers & Diagnostics Centre of Expertise; Innovative Medical Evidence Generation; and Medical & Science Centre of Expertise, as well as a strategic initiative and focus area, Project Amplify. The purpose of establishing this function is to bring these vital competences together in one area to ensure Novo Nordisk is a leader in developing and applying innovative approaches to evidence generation, clinical trials and product development.
