Tower Module in Vestas Power Solutions is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation.
Tower Technology is a sub-department of Tower Module. The department is Responsible for the technology strategy of the tower module and deliver the needed technological solutions for towers in alignment with future wind turbine requirements, module strategy and module KPI's like year on year levelized cost of energy reduction (LCOE).
The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal, and Chennai in India. The team consists of 12+ highly skilled engineers with background in Mechanical/Structural/Civil engineering

As a Specialist in Tower Technology team your primary responsibility will be:

You shall have solid proven and relevant experience in design of complex dynamically loaded steel structures and the relevant leadership skills to convert knowledge into business.

Responsibilities
As a Specialist in Tower Technology team your primary responsibility will be:
- Together with the tower technical management team develop the technology strategy of towers to follow the module strategy and improve LCoE
- Develop and deliver a technology roadmap with a 3-5 years line of sight for the responsible technology area in towers
- Perform feasibility studies on the new Ideas on the technology roadmap
- Mature the ideas from the roadmap into next levels as per Vestas technology way to market process and convert them into technology projects
- Establish and execute on IPR strategy
- Keep track of technology development and trend in the industry for the relevant area of responsibility
- Mapping of technology strategy against the market requirements across the world
- Coaching of junior staff and increase technical leadership competences within the team
- Support submodule owner with sign off on technical deliverables
- Create new processes for technology development and project execution
Qualifications
You shall have solid proven and relevant experience in design of complex dynamically loaded steel structures and the relevant leadership skills to convert knowledge into business.
- Bachelor or master's degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering
- Specific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial but not required
- Experience with valuation & development of new ideas
- The ability to dive into the details and question the process to secure an agile and fast concept development process
- Experience with statistics and data analysis
- Worked with research, innovation, and established engineering
- Experience with design of towers for wind turbines or other mast/chimney structures is an advantage
- Experience with concrete structures design would be an added advantage
- Knowledge about the value chain: manufacturing, transport, installation, and operation & maintenance
Competencies

- You have a proven history within new product development of large steel structures with fundamental knowledge of:
- Experience as technical lead on large R&D projects and new concept development.
- Calculation of welded structures/forged steel/cast iron/ (concrete structures) (analytic and FEA)
- Expertise within fatigue analysis as well as buckling analysis
- Material engineering, i.e. steel and concrete
- Relevant international standards and requirements
- Test & verification of structural steel components
- System engineering
- Design for value chain and end to end mindset(E2E)
- Experience in working with certification of structures with certification agencies
- Experienced with D-FMEA and P-FMEA processes
- Knowledge about current and future trends in structural engineering
- Leading from front’ behavior
- Ability to delegate and create results through others
- Holistic approach to problem solving
- Business acumen skills
