Do you want to be responsible for release management of all software developed in R&D in Vestas? Are you enthusiastic about planning and communicating software releases to the rest of the organization and do you have great stakeholder management skills? If yes, then you might be our new Release Manager and join a department which is of great importance to Vestas and our customers.

Power Solutions Applications, Controls & Electrical Release Management
Vestas Power Solutions is the cornerstone of Vestas. Through innovation, development and continuous product improvement we develop the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas. To put it short: Vestas Power Solutions develops the wind power systems of the future.
The Release Management department is a shared function in the Applications, Controls & Electrical area with around 20 employees in Aarhus, Denmark and in Porto, Portugal. The department is characterized by having a work environment that is result-oriented, that is at high professional level and has a solid technical commitment. The Release Management department supports 5 modules (around 500 people) with integrating, testing, deploying and releasing software solutions. We monitor and organise controlled roll-out of software and ensure efficient and fast feedback to developers after delivering a feature. We continuously work on defining the next level of release management in Vestas, including optimizing our lead time for changes, deployment frequency and software release quality.

Responsibilities
You will be part of a team of Release Managers that are responsible for release management of all software developed within the R&D organisation of Vestas. As a Release Manager, you will be responsible for several products, which include:

  • Planning and communicating software releases to the rest of the organisation
  • Driving pilot phases and controlled roll-out of software
  • Conducting release readiness reviews and act as quality gatekeeper for new releases
  • Engaging with stakeholders from across the value chain in Vestas
  • Continuously improving the release pipeline in close collaboration with the development teams
  • Identifying risks that can delay releases and handle them
  • Continuously work on improving the release management strategy for our software products to match industry standards

You will collaborate with stakeholders both internally across the whole Vestas R&D and externally throughout the global organisation and partners. We expect you to keep yourself and the department up-to-date on best practice within release management, and to have an important role in further developing our practices in Vestas.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has a relevant education at minimum Bachelor level and experience in working with software release management in large organisations.
To do well in this role, it will be beneficial with experience in several of the following areas:

  • Software Release Management Practices
  • Developing release management standards and guidelines
  • Working with optimizing Release Pipelines
  • Software Release Management Metrics
  • Agile Software Development Methodologies
  • DevOps

Furthermore, we are looking for candidate who is fluent in English (written and oral).
