We Offer

An exciting opportunity where you become an important member of our

insurance claims team part of the Maersk Treasury and Risk department

providing effective claims handling in respect of insurance claims within Maersk.

As a claims manager, you will work with a large degree of independence to carry out the end-to-end activities associated with managing selected liability and property claims within the Maersk captive insurance company.

Key duties include overseeing the activities of the third-party claim

administrator staff, resolving, or escalating issues and monitoring progress

towards timely and proper resolution of claims.

You will ensure that claims are handled according to the agreed processes and in close cooperation with service providers and the relevant internal and

external stakeholders.

You will interact with colleagues, build a strong, professional network across Maersk and cooperate closely with professionals in all businesses and have

exposure to a global network, spread across 135 countries.

This position is based in our HQ in Copenhagen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure claims are properly addressed, reported, and recorded in the risk management information system.

  • Manage the relationship and work product of the third-party claim administrator

  • Review claims for settlement authority and changes in claim reserves within authority levels.

  • Ensure proper claims processes are in place with internal stakeholders.

  • Work with legal counsel in all geographies in managing the litigation process.

  • Pursue recoveries against third parties of claims covered by insurance.

  • Be responsible for compiling and documenting loss records and analytical results in an organized way such as can be utilized as loss runs to insurance underwriters.

  • Work with the underwriting team on any insurance coverage issues and to bring awareness of performance and trends.

  • Serve as the department subject matter expert of the risk management information system.

  • Perform internal controls in accordance with agreed processes.


  • Assist on the reporting to the Danish FSA for the Maersk captive

  • Undertake other assignments as required to support the Treasury department


Who we are looking for:

• You have experience in claims examination and management with demonstrated knowledge of property and third-party liability insurance coverages.

• You have knowledge of legal and insurance terminology and procedures.

• You have experience working with an insurance third party claims administrator.

• You have experience working with a risk management information system.

• You have strong proficiency is data analytic, process management and critical thinking.

• You ideally have knowledge of the maritime, cargo and container industry.

• You have a bachelors' degree of higher. A legal degree or certificate is highly preferred.

Furthermore you:

• Have experience working in a challenging, fast paced and changing

environment dealing with a lot of different tasks at the same time.

• Are proactive – you have the ability and confidence to work on own initiative.

• You are collaborative and works for the success of the team.

• Have a well-structured and logical approach to the job and an outgoing and enthusiastic personality.

You are fluent in written and spoken English, while Danish is not required.
